Questions about ASUS Strix Tactic Pro Keyboard

- In dedicated support page there exists 3 different firmware updates:

v1.07
v1.08
and v1.09 <-- This claims that it fixes the BIOS problem. (Unable to enter BIOS by pressing DEL key)

However I noticed that only the second version, v1.08 fixes the BIOS problem. Otherwise the latest and the first firmware update doesn't fix the BIOS problem.
Altough my computer's mainboard is rather an old one: "GIGABYTE X58A-UD5 (Rev 1) mainboard"

- "Gaming Mode" which is activated by pressing FN + F12 buttons only works if NKRO is also activated.
For example, if I deactivate NKRO while Gaming Mode is active (That is, the "G" light still ON) Windows Button also works.
Is this intended ?

- Yes it is possible to record and assign On-The-Fly macros by only using the keyboard but is there also a way to be able to deactivate or delete those macros that we have created by only using keyboard again ?
(So far the only solution I found is deleting the macros by the help of Strix Software that we have to install on the computer.)

- The Quick Start Guide seems to have irrelevant or wrong information about Strix Software. Any plans to update guide ?

As long as I am concerned, these are not serious problems for me. I LOVE and use this keyboard without any problem and hope to plan to use it for a very long time.
It's built like a tank, and I really like the orange theme, the macro buttons and their positions. I use the macro buttons under space bar with my left hand's thumb very frequently while gaming. In my opinion, making those macro buttons under the space bar having Cherry MX switches would be better. But oh well...

I am just surprised that a leading corporation like ASUS makes some careless little mistakes when developing this awesome keyboard. I guess in time you lost some integrity or focus in your corporation at least when developing this product.

My first computer's mainboard (in 1997) was an ASUS TX-97XE mainboard, my current monitor is an ASUS VS239HV, my current mouse is an ASUS ROG Gladius, and my current graphics card is an ASUS R7 265. Heck I also have an ASUS EEE Pc purchased like 5 years ago and I deliberately wanted it to be an ASUS brand EEE PC. You can almost call me an ASUS fanboy and ASUS products are my number 1 choice when it comes buying hardware for my custom computer setup.

You should try to delete and reset all the website profiles. Also maybe try uninstalling software then use CC Cleaner to clean the registry before reinstalling.

Bahz, I agreed with you about uninstalling software and using CC cleaner. It's worked a lot

I'll defintely do that and see if it fixes the problem.

After unistalled completely the Strix software and performed a registry cleaning with CCleaner, I re-installed the Strix software and at first finally the macro keys started to working again, but, after shutting down the computer and then booted up macro keys don't work anymore...

That's very strange, I'll have to pull out the this keyboard and test it myself but from what I remember the Macros were working fine for me. Please make sure you've saved settings on a profile and not the default profile which doesn't save settings.

Hi Bahz, I tried all different scenarios:
- reset, clean install, profile with hardware mode and different profiles customized;
- reset, clean install, profile with software mode and different profiles customized;
None of these worked out.

As always I do thank you anyway for your help. I just gave up and since it was my birthday on 7th it was gifted me a new keyboard.

I'm thinking this may be an issue with the keyboard directly then. Do you know when the person that gifted you this keyboard purchased this? It's been quite a few years since this keyboard was released and if I remember correctly it should already be EOL in some countries. If it's under warranty then you should send it back for replacement. The first sample I got had the same problem and it was an IC issue on the keyboard.

Apologize, I expressed myself wrong. On 7th of this month it was gifted me a new keyboard (Corsair K95), so basically the Strix Tactic Pro now stand in my mother's pc office (she doesn't need the macros anyway). I bought Strix Tactic Pro 3 and half years ago so it's out of warranty, she served me well by I never been able to use macros properly.
The shop (an official Asus store in Bologna) where I bought it is out of business and back then they told me that it was enough to download the newest firmware to fix the keyboard.

Now that you mentioned tour own problem with your first sample I'm a bit relieved, at least I'm not the only one had this issue.

I see, thanks for clarifying this. At least it's still being put to good use, sorry that you weren't able to get the complete experience for this product. I wished I would have helped you sooner to get you a properly working unit.

I appreciate your help Bahz. It was just my fault to not mention this issue earlier to who could really assist me like you.
Thank you anyway.

latest driver update has killed the keyboard lights. (strix logo is still on but very very dull) all macro lights caps lock and num lock all work no problems.

keyboard is un-usable in slightly dark room.
