Azoth repeating keys issue

Hello,

I'm interested in buying Azoth keyboard but there are so many reports online that it has repeating keys issue. Is it still a thing after the latest firmware update? Kina sucks for 300 usd dollars.

My alternative would be Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro 75% which has very similar design and more or less same price.

Hello hannahkoch

I've seen a few reports of the key repeating issue, but I personally haven't experienced any key repeating.

The ROG Azoth is a fantastic keyboard. The OLED display is one of the main features and can be customized with a gif or personal picture. It can show both cpu and gpu temp or frequency. I usually have mine set to show the date and time.  It has a music mode where it will show a bouncing bar graph (and two other settings) when playing songs, you can also add a custom banner.

The ROG Azoth has three layers of dampening foams and pre-lubed keyboard stabilizer, which gives an excellent typing experience. While not completely silent, the keys are nice and quiet.

The frame is made of metal, you'll see and feel the quality once you pull it out of the box.

The ROG Azoth has a control knob for quick settings, for full customization, you'll need to install Armoury Crate.

In my case, I'm still having issues with key repeting (last FW, soft etc). Further down, you can find a detailed post about this problem, which mentions that it's not a software issue but rather a hardware design problem. The post has more information about it. So far, every time the issue has persisted with a specific key, I’ve been able to fix it by swapping switches with others on the same keyboard (which partially aligns with what’s explained in the post).

Hi @Quickie

Have you contacted CS for your region?

I actually recently had an Azoth with that issue. I contacted the local reseller and they offered me a replacement, but again it had the same issue, so I contacted them again and they offered another replacement, but guess what, same thing over 😂 so I decided to sell it for peanuts money and buy a product that is not a joke.

For the price point, you would expect it to be superior to a $10 keyboard, but you would be wrong! Apparently, people can be delusional expecting one key input when one key is pressed, but somehow the right thing is to get two or sometimes even three, just laughable! Did they even do proper testing?

Please note, it doesn't actually have a metal frame, that's misleading, there's only a top metal cover, the actual frame is made from plastic. I loved the fact that it had the ability to show CPU and GPU temps, but sadly it requires ArmoryCrap to be installed, so if you want to turn your PC into a sluggish and heavily crash prone junk, sure do your thing. But in all cases, be aware that moderators are being paid by Asus, so there is no doubt that they will be extremely biased trying to convince you into buying their product even if it's flawed and even if they do know about it! Dig deeper into ROG forum about Azoth, you will know what I'm talking about.

It seems that the only solution to this problem was found here Key repeating issue ROG AZOTH Fix - Republic of Gamers Forum - 1054788. So, if you want to risk losing your warranty shortly after buying it, go for it. But, I have to ask you, wouldn't it be just easier to spend your hard earned money that's not gifted by Asus on something that's worth buying and fully functional out of the box? Go with the Razer option you suggested and save yourself misery and frustration. It's just not worth it!

Save yourself the trouble and don't bother with buying it. ASUS probably won't ever acknowledge the hardware failure in this keyboard. Perhaps they may silently fix it in a future revision but they won't tell you when and if that happens. I've tried the hardware fix mentioned above and although it does improve the situation you'll probably have to open the keyboard several times to bend the pins into the correct position for every single key when the issue appears for that particular key. It's a wack-a-mole game and a total waste of time. For this amount of money you're better off buying a Kechron Q1 Max or something else.

It appears to be a manufacturing flaw. I'm now on my third Azoth that suffers from repeating keys. I'm constantly having to fix my text entry. It's practically unusable. The likelihood of getting 3 "bad keyboards" in a row is very small- so small that I don't believe I'm just unlucky.  There's something fundamentally wrong with this keyboard design/manufacture and Asus has neither said or done anything to get right with their customers that spent significant $ on their flagship keyboard. Steer clear.

What a shame.
