Hello Everyone,
I just want to share my experience with you all. Like many others, I also had issues with pairing my ASUS Azoth and USB dongle after the latest firmware update where the USB dongle was updated to support Omni.
After successfully updating the firmware of both the keyboard and dongle, the pairing was lost between them. I then ran the Factory_Auto_Pairing via CMD (as administrator), but it kept failing no matter what I tried.
I was inspired from this thread which was closed, for comments.
Asus Rog azoth cant pairing after update of omni r... - Republic of Gamers Forum - 1053224
The solution!
I analyzed the error and found that ASUS uses wmic for both firmware updates and pairing the keyboard/dongle. Microsoft has chosen to remove wmic from Windows 11.
The error message I encountered was:
"wMIC' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
Steps to fix it:
Download ROG AZOTH FW update Version 1.0.0.13
https://rog.asus.com/keyboards/keyboards/compact/rog-azoth-model/helpdesk_bios
Install wmic.
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/add-or-remove-wmic-command-feature-in-windows-11.5119
Unzip ROG AZOTH FW update Version 1.0.0.13
It will look like this
Open CMD as administrator
Navigate to the folder where you unzipped the ROG AZOTH FW update with CMD
Connect your USB dongle
Ensure your keyboard is set to USB mode, and that the USB cable is connected.
Run the Factory_Auto_Pairing.bat file from FirmwareAutoUpdate_1.0.0.13\Firmware
If successful, the CMD window will show the color in green.

You're welcome, I actually thought I was going to have to return my keyboard to the store where I bought it, because at one point, Windows couldn't recognize the keyboard even with the USB cable connected 😞 fortunately, I managed to get it working again.
I'm glad you were able to use my guide to solve it 🙂

Solution for me was to go into a laptop without any trace of AC or AC gear, and run ROG AZOTH FW update Version 1.0.0.13.
I was getting fail in cmd with these steps (I believe my Windows was not properly adding WMIC for some reason)..
Anyway kudos for you for sharing this!

You Sir are an absolute legend, thank you. If I could - I would buy you a beer.
One thing - I found I could only "enter" in CMD when my keyboard was wired - I couldn't hit enter in CMD when it was on the 2.4ghz option. If I left it wired, the text was red.
Can I suggest a slight change to the steps:
7. Run the Factory_Auto_Pairing.bat file from FirmwareAutoUpdate_1.0.0.13\Firmware in CMD, with wired connection.
8. When the firmware update starts the countdown write command timer in CMD - switch to 2.4ghz mode.
You have saved me a lot of time and effort man - thank you!

Hi Harro, you are absolutely right about the keyboard needing to be set to USB mode only. I don't know why I wrote RF 2.4 GHz mode when it was actually USB mode that I meant, but it has been corrected 🙂
Thanks for your help 😊
