ROG Delta S Animate not working (RESOLVED)

Dimpy
Level 7
Headphones are not working after few days. In system they are shown as ESS USB Audio instead of their name. Stop/play button is still working, but there is no sound. Microphone, sound regulation and matrix are not working. Also headphones are not detected by Armoury Crate. How can I solve this problem?

Hey I'm having the same issue kind of.

I have a ROG Delta S headset and it worked really well until recently when its only working some of the time. When the device is recognized as ROG DELTA S it works but then sometimes it just shows as ESS USB AUDIO and stops working.

Replugging it a bazillion times sometimes fixes the issue.

However I downloaded the firmware update file (for delta s) but I cant burn it.

Please note that the firmware for Delta S and Delta S Animate are different.
You can find the Delta S support page here:

Or download directly from here:

Okay at this point Im fairly certain its a hardware defect on the headphone side. They work sometimes, but mostly they are either recognized as ESS USB AUDIO with no sound or as ROG DELTA S but also no sound anymore at all.

I was able to update the firmware through armory crate and hoped that fixed it - but it didn't. Then when it was again recognized as ESS USB AUDIO after installing the armory crate update I was able to use the rescue firmware which successfully ran and burnt /verified but the issue still persists.

I originally bought them from Amazon.ca September 2021 so I guess they aren't covered by warranty anymore and that's a shame. Guess at this point I can just throw them out and by another pair 😕

Hello Zaerog,

Unfortunately, the warranty expired 1 year from the date of purchase.

I'm wondering if it's the cable, have you accidentally stepped on the cable or an accidental tug?

It doesn't look like the cable is replaceable.

Just an Update:

My ROG Delta S are working again!

Funny enough your answer "It doesn't look like the cable is replaceable" made me prompted me to check the cable out. There was no visible damage anywhere, but that was the only explanation left aside from driver issues.

After some research I found this here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004094033998.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.5.26d54855FuBwra&al...

You can literally buy full Asus branded replacement cables from Aliexpress. (And yes it took weeks for the cable to arrive)

Combine the new cable with this tutorial:

And everything is working perfectly again.

Cheers

Excellent !

Good to hear you got your ROG Delta S headset working again.

I have to take my hat off to you for replacing the cable, proper tools and some tech saviness are required.
