ROG Delta II Audio Stuttering and Tearing in Games

Hello, I am having a similar issue to the discussion in this thread https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/armoury-crate/rog-delta-ii-audio-issues-after-armoury-crate-update/td-... . I just got this set and it's great but when playing games the audio sounds as if it is stuttering or tearing when explosions or higher treble moments happen like airstrikes. The audio sounds as if it is ripping and there is audible high pitched frequencies that definitely should not be there. It is really distracting and uncomfortable and otherwise takes away from a completely well rounded headset. Unlike the other post, updating my headset in ArmouryCrate did not solve my issue. I have turned off Audio Enhancements, Dolby Atmos, and am on 00.04.04.00 on the dongle and the headset firmware and my settings are below. I also do not run ArmouryCrate on my gaming PC, I save the settings from my laptop to the headset and then play with the dongle on my other PC. My EQ is just GadgetryTech's but with slight tweaks to raise channel Left to 55 and a bit lower Compression.

Hello psg237

Your firmware is up to date.

Try these two settings.

Be sure to click apply.

If that doesn't help, the Gadgetry Tech software could be conflicting with Armoury Crate. I'll suggest to uninstall it and any other sound control programs then reboot your pc.

I turn off Virtual Surround Sound when listening to music, turn it on for games.

Hi thanks, but GadetryTech is not a software. It’s a YouTube channel and I’m simply using his settings in Armoury. I also don’t use Sound Virtualization it ruins other sound cues for me in game and play stereo

Also to expand upon your point about the other two settings, I previously had those set (allow applications to take control of device and device defaults in sound settings) but I still had the tearing sound. I read on the other thread linked above someone suggested turning those off so gave it a try when I screenshot my settings. Going to try both ways but had this setting before and was still having the stutter/tearing

Hey, which game has this issue? Have you gone to their forum to check if it's a known issue?

Quick rundown of your system specs? XMP/EXPO/overclocked?

I do see some posts about it going back 5 years ago, but I have 3000+ hours in the game and haven't really experienced this before because it is on every explosion/loud frequency with the headset. On my other headsets this doesn't happen (I've used AstroA50X, TB Atlas Air, IEMs through Fosi DAC, Audeze Maxwell, HyperX Cloud 3 Wireless, Hifiman Edition XS and Sundara, TB Stealth Pros).

I was told maybe that it is possible that other audio drivers could cause this, so I've disabled Realtek (onboard), Nvidia's Audio Driver, and AMD Audio even if those don't cause other issues on my other headsets. The game is CPU intensive but my CPU utilization in the game is quite normal and the temperatures are low with an AIO Liquid Cooler. Around 60-70C and 25-35% depending.

I just tried to play the game again when disabling those other audio drivers and it didn't change, I still heard some tearing/stuttering. I tried lowering the audio quality settings in game and it still heard them. It sounds like a robotic tearing sound when loud vehicles or explosions or shots are fired. it's a very poor experience

I undervolt the CPU and use PBO +200 as many do, but always check with stress tests on CPU and RAM to make sure it is stable.

AMD 9800x3D processor
AsRock Nova WiFi X870E mobo
Asus Nvidia RTX 4090 TUF
Gskill Trident RGB 96GB DDR5 6200mt/s

-WD Black SN850X 4TB
-CT4000MX 4TB SSD
-Verizon Fios Router Model CR1000A, extender in use in room but PC hardwires, router is on another floor -Tried 2.4 band on Channel 11, 1, and 6 and all seemed similar in terms

Forgot to say that the game is Hell Let Loose for PC (Windows) https://store.steampowered.com/app/686810?snr=5000_5100__

And it happens in this game specifically?

Any others?

I just loaded up Squad's Practice range and did hear some glitching on the intro screens but once I got into the practice range it seemed relatively normal. I can test some others, but I have no clue what game to test if they use a different audio engine or implementation. Mostly the tearing occurs on very high frequency sounds such as tank engines and the rumble of the tank when inside, vehicles exploding, bombing runs (VERY loud generally in the game), and machine gun sounds. Footsteps/most rifles sound perfectly normal. It's just strange that it wouldn't happen to anyone else that plays that I know, or on any other wireless headset that I own, and I just have the barebones setup for the Rog Delta II's.

How about when you play music? That's much easier to find different genres and specific frequency ranges for testing.

Tried another PC as well?
