Rtx 5090 Astral B2 code after restarting windows

Hello everyone this is my first time posting, im having a weird problem with my new card. Here is what happened;

So i got my Rtx 5090 Astral recently and built my new pc. But then couldnt boot pc into windows, i was able to enter BIOS tho. So i removed 5090 and connected my old GPU (rtx 2080ti) Now i was able to boot. I have updated drivers, windows etc then removed old gpu and connected RTX 5090. It runs without any problem. Armoury create detects my 5099, gpu tweaks iii shows everything is fine, nvidia driver is up to date.

But whenever i restart windows, i get B2 q-code error and cant boot into windows, all i get is a black screen. If i turn off psu power, wait for a while and turn on psu power back then i can turn on my pc without a problem and can boot into windows again. If i shutdown my pc its also good, i can boot into windows without a problem when i turn on my pc.

This problem only happens after restarting windows. I have treid to update BIOs but couldnt update it with a usb stick. Idk why but i dont think bios version is a problem.

Also i have tried changin pcie slot to 4.0 and 3.0 from auto in bios. Didnt work. I have tried using a pcie 4.0 cable it didnt work.

Cpu: ryzen 7 9800x3d

Motherboard: Asus Rog x870e-e

Ram: Corsair Vengeance 2x24gb (6000mhz)

Gpu: Rtx 5090 Astral

Do you think this is a gpu or motherboard problem?

It's probably mobo related. Have you checked your mobo/case connections for turning on/rebooting your PC? Make sure it's plugged in all the way. Make sure all your connections are well plugged in and plugged in proper ports. You can try updating mobo BIOS. I've seen people having issues with 5090 trying to work in PCIE5 mode. You can try switching to Gen4 in BIOS and see if it affects your rebooting.

Hi @Vici0us Can you go into the BIOS and change the PCIE lanes to GEN4 and see if this helps?

Onboard Devices Configuration>PCIEX16_1 mode: Set GEN4

If using a riser cable, please remove and connect directly to the PCIE slot.

Thanks for reply. I already tried changing it to gen 4.0. But it didnt work. Im prettt sure everything is plugged well tho. I did a lot of benchmark test without a problem. Also gpu tweak iii shows that cables are fine. This only happens if i restart windows.

Hi, I wasn't referring to the power balancing, but in fact, if you were using a riser cable for data. Is the card connected directly to the PCIE slot?

Check with EXPO disabled to see if the behaviour is the same.

I have since moved the thread to ROG Care for the attention of the service team. 👍

Thanks

Im going to check it today after work and hope it works.

Yes it is connected directly to motherboards slot if this is what you mean.

Maybe you have some setting in the BIOS turned on that's affecting your rebooting. Try resetting your BIOS back to default settings and see if rebooting works after that.
