Red LED on ProArt RTX 4070TI 12GB

Hello,

Recently I upgraded to the 4070ti from a 3070ti earlier this week. Everything works fine, or at least I think so and have had no issues however I noticed there is a red LED that stays illuminated when my PC is both shut off and booted up. I've done some reading on this forum and elsewhere online and saw that it could be related to power draw issues from incorrectly seated cables, so I went back and pushed the cables in more, even took them all out and pushed them back in harder yet the red light continues to remain.

Everything runs great and smoothly except for a slight CPU(i5 11600k) bound bottleneck in games like MSFS. My PSU is an EVGA SuperNova 850GT, and I am using the default 16pin to 2x8 pci-e connector that came with the GPU. I'm just hoping this won't become an issue when I upgrade the rest of my system later this month

This behaviour is normal when the system is powered down when using the supplied adaptor, however, the LED should turn off once the system is powered up. My contact in ASUS ROG said to contact customer service to see what they think is the best way to resolve it. As far as I can tell, the GPU should run normally, and the lighting doesn’t affect its function or performance.

I guess I'll order a compatable adapter from a 3rd party source like cablemod to see if it fixes anything. If not, then RMA the card?

Literally installed exact same card yesterday into mine and had the same issue. 1000 Corsair PSU and light still comes on no matter how much cable play to try and remedy the issue. I heard the same online but when speaking to asus support they had advised to either return the card or have them warranty it. I decided to return but I would like to know if the cable swap from the default to new fixes the issue, as this is the conclusion I had arrived at. the only other issue I experienced with this gpu is my secondary display screen is not recognized from the thunderbolt daisy chain configuration I have it set up to, but for some reason it is recognized via the thunderbolt software. I would like to know as these types of cards are still expensive and seem to be arriving defective for many perhaps due to cut corners from that cable adapter or faulty gpus in general... either way after messing with all plugs, ram, and unseating gpu I find this to be the most promising to remedy the situation in the mean time. Good luck looking forward to see if this works for you so i may just follow suite.

I'm first going to try with a off brand cable then, wipe drivers again and reinsert the card to see if it will not only not post the LED but also remedy not having my secondary monitor as I have them both plugged directly into the thunderbolt ports in the back and yet I can only get it to recognize one monitor at a time no matter if viewing via nvidia or windows 11 display settings, only one seems to show. If this doesn't remedy I may just return the card entirely and walk away from upgrading till I can get my hands on a card when they issues are directly addressed by asus or there is a diffinitive work around on this, before shelling out this much only to have a defective card, honestly this whole experience has made me reconsider the entire notation of upgrading after this experience and Asus support wasn't as helpful either,,,

I’ve tried different Pci-e slot with no results. On friday I will try the second monitor to see the symptoms are the same there too.

Looks like the default Nvidia 12vhpwr adapter was faulty because I just received the 3x8pin to 16pin from cablemod and the light is gone, both booted and shutdown

That’s good to hear. I wonder if these cards shipped with faulty adapters.
