My Astral 5090 OC irregularly reports 0 rpm on fan speed and physical fan speed spin up to max.

My Astral 5090 OC irregularly reports 0 rpm on the side fan speed monitor and at the same time the physical side fan speed spins at max.
The fan is out of sync with the temperature/GPU load and spins around at max speed making a terrible noise.

Is this an initial defect or failure of the HW? Please help.

[change from correct operation to abnormal operation]
- During fan rotation, GPU Tweak III starts reporting that the fan speed is at 0 rpm.
- At the same time, the physical fan accelerates and continues to spin at its maximum speed.

[Change from Abnormal to Correct Operation]
- During fan rotation, GPU Tweak III will begin to report if the fan speed is at a value other than 0 rpm.
- At the same time, the physical fan will slow down to synchronize with the report.

[Miscellaneous]
- When [0db fan] is on and at low load/temperatures, the fan stops correctly.
- When [0db fan] is on and at high load/temperature, the fan needs to spin up and the abnormal behavior described above occurs.
- When the [0db fan] is off, the fan needs to rotate and an error occurs.
- Normal > Abnormal operation occurs at high loads with high probability, but also at no load with low probability.
- Abnormal and normal switching occurs randomly over a period of minutes to hours.
- Referring to another article, I changed from [12VHPWR included with PSU ] to [12VHPWR-4x8-pin adapter included with GPU ], but the abnormal operation was not fixed.
- Referring to another article, I tried uninstalling GPU Tweak III and HW Monitor, but the abnormal operation was not fixed.

Be careful with the volume! The GPU fan noise will be very loud.

Hi @yhide

Assuming you have nothing else installed that's potentially polling the fans, I would consider contacting service for your region - as the symptoms would indicate a potential issue with the unit.

Hi @Silent_Scone
Thanks for the help!

I installed a completely clean Windows 11 today, I tested it in that environment.

The problem still occurred.
The side fan speed reports 0 rpm and at the same time the physical side fan speed spins at maximum.
(Center fan is normal).

I would greatly appreciate your support.

Hi,
Yeah. I fully suspect that the issue is with the unit itself. It may be quicker for you to reach out to CS for your region, but if you come unstuck at any point, post back 👍
