My current rig has the Z790 Maximus hero BTF. I very recently received the 5080 astral OC and installed it. For a few days it worked but i had many crashes and issues of many kind, today i looked further into the hardware part and something caught my eye.
The GPU won't fit in properly because the BTF special 600W port is in the way. The PCIe clip would not close itself and I had to push it in, found it strange but saw there was not a big deal and clipped it myself.
I'm gonna develop more about that physical compatibility problem and will add some pictures for reference.
Before the Astral I had the KFA2 3070 and it worked perfectly, after inspecting both card i found out where the difference is that the part that fits into the PCIe slot is smaller on the 5080 compared to the 3070 (I'm including an old 1050 as well because it has the same issue as the 5080, but since it's smaller it's much easier to see)
The 3070 never had any issue, it always worked out of the box when i got everything in 2024 and never had any issue. My objective by getting this motherboard was originally to get a 4090 BTF, when i could finally look into it they were all out of stock, eventually i set my eyes on the 5080 astral and here we are now.

I have never seen this issue anywhere, i never saw that there were compatibility issues between this specific motherboard and some GPUs, and please correct me if you know anything about that.
Realistically the solution is a riser cable to mount the GPU vertically, but should it really be my only option ? Could it be that the card has a slight defect making the BTF slot slightly higher ? The difference is not much bigger than 1 to 1.5mm.
One last thing, I have tried the 5080 in an other motherboard and it clips in perfectly without any issue.
