Hi everyone!
I'm looking to see if there is anyone here with similar issues.
About a 4 months ago my ROG XG Mobile (3080) has been continuously randomly disconnecting from my laptop whenever I play ANY videogame (I'm talking Overwatch, Valorant, Minecraft and even low graphic games like Sims 2).
I've even bought a new power chord for it to see if maybe that is the issue but it keeps happening.
I cannot use the laptop/portable gpu combo anymore sadly for gaming as it comes up with the following every time the crash happens:
From Armoury Crate: ''Unlocking the ROG XG Mobile improperly may cause or has caused errors. Follow proper removal protocols to ensure a stable connection next time'' (just to clarify I have always followed the disconnection/disconnection protocols)
Generic white box 'Error' popup: ''Graphics driver crashed! Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. Troubleshooting information: https://riot.com/38b2jJn'' (I'm guessing it sends me a Riot link as I was playing Valorant when my most recent crash happened - 2 crashes within 5 minutes of eachother, also I always make sure that my drivers are updated & have even tried re-installing them)
I've had my laptop and my ROG XG since 2021 I believe and I cannot afford to buy a new PC, so would definitely appreciate some help! This only started happening in the past 4 months and I'm super sad, I just want to be able to play games without getting banned from crashing 😞
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Sorry for what happens to you, unfortunatly i ve encountered the exact same issue with my flow x13 and rog XG mobil.
The 2 have been sent back 4 or 5 times for waranty to ASUS and the probleme as never been fixed. I still have random disconnections.
Asus has never solved this problem. They just change the cable and thermal paste. Laptop works fine for a month or so and disconections reapears.
I never found a solution, i bought this for my work (I m a CG artist), and it s a waist of money, i will never recommend ASUS to anyone anymoer
Hope you have better luck than me fiding a fix to this problem
PS: sorry for my english, it s not my native language

Hey,
I’ve had a similar issue with my ROG XG Mobile (also 3080) randomly disconnecting, especially during gaming—it’s super frustrating. I tried everything from driver updates to cable replacements too, and nothing fixed it permanently. It seems like a hardware or firmware flaw that ASUS hasn't fully addressed. I’ve temporarily stopped using it for gaming as well, and it sucks considering how much we’ve paid. While you're stuck dealing with that, I found myself using my laptop more for media instead—if you're in the same boat, maybe check out MovieBoxHD, a free streaming app I came across recently. Worth a try until ASUS gets their act together.
