Greetings all!
I've been having issues with my new 4070 SOC card. Win11 seems to only detect it as a GENERIC NIVIDIA 4070 SUPER card. Is this normal/expected?
I do not have (nor do I want) AC installed. Any assistance would be appreciated! Thanks!

HI @AdamAlsop
Ensure the card and the supplied power connector are fully inserted. Are you using a riser cable? If Device Manager is detecting it as a 4070 Super, that should be fine.
Install the latest GPU drivers from https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/

Hello! I have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, rinse & repeat (once uninstalling with Nvidia's tool - per their direction), and the last time with DDU. All connections are 100% solid, and the PSU is a Corsair HX1200i. Even the VEN details in Device Mgr show it to be a PLAIN 4070 Super. Previously, before Nvidia had me use their uninstaller, it WAS properly detected as an Asus RTV4070 Super OC - with 2 GPUs - even Afterburner was able to recognize it as such! Now EVERYTHING sees it as "generic" with only ONE GPU 😞
VERY frustrating 😞 Oh, additionally, even Asus's own GPU Tweak III only sees it with ONE GPU.
Also, the cables are high-quality DP2 80gb. Not VESA CERTIFIED (but I'm going to swap them out for a set of 40gb cables that are VESA Certified) - not that I believe they are having any effect, because I've also tried other cables.
Even HWINFO only sees it as a generic 4070 with ONE GPU :~(
Also, it's installed (x16!) on an Asus X870E-E mobo w/all current updates.

Have you actually tried to use any applications? Is there any indication that the card isn't performing as expected?

I swear that when I first installed it, it was recognized (even in Device Mgr) as an Asus TUF RTX4070 Super OC. But even GPU Tweak III only shows it as a TUF-RTX4070S.
Maybe I'm mis-remembering the settings I used in MSI Afterburner - but I swear it was showing TEMP values for GPU#1 & GPU#2.
I feel like I'm losing my mind 😞

I don't think the Device ID is that important really, what you want to verify is if the card is working as expected.

Well I also realized that it is only detecting TWO fans, not 3 - so that is an issue. I'd really like to get some feedback from other users of the card and what they see. 🙂

Unfortunately, it is normal that only 2 fans are recognized because 2 fans are connected via a Y cable and are therefore only recognized as 1 fan.
This is also the case with my Asus TUF RTX 4070 Ti OC.
But the fact that your GPU is only recognized as generic is simply a driver problem.
In addition, you don't actually have to remove the older one via DDU when updating the driver. Nvidia offers the "new installation" option under "custom" in the install.
What can get in the way, however, is Windows. Because during the uninstallation/update, Windows installs an outdated driver via Windows Update and as a result there is usually a "nvlddmkm.sys" twice in the system.
It was always the case for me and caused problems.
I have now gotten into the habit of briefly disconnecting the PC from the Internet when I update the driver.
In your case, a missing driver for the chipset etc. can also mean that the GPU is not recognized correctly.
The device manager should at least show "Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070".
So check whether there are any unknown devices or yellow exclamation marks in the device manager. If so, update these drivers.

Ok, so I confirmed with Asus support about how the unit is displayed and that is IS being displayed correctly - there is no specific HARDWARE ID to identify it as either an ASUS or as the OC EDITION (rather surprising to me). GPU Tweak II indicates FAN SPEED (SIDES) - plural, I had not noticed that before. I'm wondering if HWMonitor just hasn't been updated to include the proper model as it does only indicate 2 fans.
The main problem I'm still having, though, is the "screen bounce" when coming out of sleep. I even got 2 VESA-Certified DP2.0 cables (100% backward compatible - 4K@240+)
