Hello,
I am one of those people whose 4090 is blackscreening on idle.
I dont get crashes in games or anything, but on desktop it happens almost every day.
Somteimes it's short blackscreens, sometimes it crashes fully with crashing the display driver.
I have a brandnew top highend system. I read about other people whose 4090 did the same. I didn't test setting performance mode to high performance which fixed this for some people (i dont want my card to run 60+w in idle). I have of couse installed the latest firmware.
This problem is getting kinda frustrating, it's not like the pc is borderline unusable, but sometimes i sit around somewhere and see the monitor going black in a 30 seconds interval, i would rather have this gone.
Is there a conclussion what causes this (i know it can be lot of things, but other people had the same thing happen so...)?
I will test high performacne mode today, but i am not happy....
System Specs:
X670E Hero
7950X3D
Gskill DDR5 6000 Neo
4090 Strix
MSI MPG a1000g PSU
Thanks alot

Hello,
1) if using any riser cables remove them from the system and connect the GPU directly
2) Do please test Max performance mode in Nv control panel to confirm if the issue is resolved
3) Check both the GPU VBIOS and motherboard BIOS are on the later version
4) Check you’re using the latest display driver from NVIDIA’s download page

Nobody said it was a fix, it's called troubleshooting.

Well guess I just chill out with my broken product the next years, I mean should I really bitch about it being broken??
It was only 2000 bucks... guess ill buy a new one. What a joke this company is in 2023.
You funny people will never see a dime of me again

Sounds like you’ve already made up your mind. 🙂 Feel free to try the troubleshooting suggestions at your own pace

Hello, @SsX1337
Due to the ongoing local holidays in our area, our response time may be slower.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by delayed replies.
In addition to the suggestion provided by Silent_Scone, I would like to inquire if you have any other settings in the BIOS.
It is recommended that you further test the setting in Max Performance mode and confirm if the crashes persist after clearing CMOS and with default BIOS settings.
If possible, please also consider performing cross-testing with another PSU.
Thank you.

I have the new cable (i knew there was a problem with the old cable as afterburner powerlimit only went to 100% instead of 133%, seems like the four sensor pins of the 12vhpwr are very fragile and were causing the problems) and it looks like the blackscreens stopped. It's a 12vhpwr cable with an angle now, it was just a normal one before and the glass of the case was pressing against it, maybe this damaged the cable, or it was broken before).
Have to watch out for some time, but i had steam open and some youtube video and that was enough before to crash after some 20-30 minutes and it was running for 2h now without a blackscreen... looking good fow now.
Thanks for the help and sorry again, feel really stupid about it now

Its still happening. Even with complete bios reset, no expo, standard clocks.
Its not happening with maximum Performance in nv control panel.
But now the card runs nonstop with high clocks. Can you tell me if there is something planed for this or what's the cause? Is asus working on a fix? Should I rma the card?
