Hello, I recently built my first Pc and sadly I'm facing instability with the system. On bios I use default settings, with EXPO enabled. On default the Core Performance Boost(PBO) is in auto. With it enabled my pc crashes but in unexpected scenarios. For example when I stress test the CPU with "OCCT" the CPU performers as expected with no crashes during the 1 hour test. However when I try to download something it almost instantly reboots. I tried downloading steam from chrome, which is 2MB and it crashed. When it reboots if I try again it downloads normally, so it's not something consistent. Afterwards I tried downloading a game. Downloaded about 6% and again it reboots. After reboot(I have steam to open on startup), it continues downloading normally. The second time it downloaded 30% before rebooting. After I turned off PBO I managed to download the whole game with no issues. So, I've spent hours on forums but I can't find someone with the same issue as me, I mostly read about crashes but when the CPU is under heavy load. Sadly I can't pinpoint which component might be the cause of my problem since I lack knowledge. If anyone is able to conclude something from my description I would gladly hear him out. PS5 doesn't seem that bad after all😂. T

hank you.

Hi @Nikosbones

Try firstly:

1. Clear CMOS

2. Insert one memory module in DIMM slot A2

3. If using a CPU contact frame, remove it and use the stock retention mechanism.

4. Reseat the CPU, inspect the CPU pin-pad and socket for any debris or damage.

5. Confirm all power cables (24-pin ATX, 8-pin EPS, GPU) are secure. Monitor voltages with HWMonitor.

6 Retest

Today I took the Pc to a technician. If he can't manage to solve the issue I ll do as you instructed. What am I looking for when checking the voltages. I mean what is the indication that something is off? And thanks for the reply, I am really glad that you didn't point the classic "did you update the bios?". Cheers man

You can also update the BIOS lol.

You can check the voltage rails in the UEFI, too. It's under monitor.

In HWINFO, check the minimum values. The ATX spec officially allows 120mV ripple on the 12V rail and 50mV ripple on the 5V and 3.3V rails. However, software readings need to be taken with a grain of salt.
