I am a World of Warcraft player and Blizzard is saying to make sure my desktop has a bios updated to bios microcode 0x12B or later because of the Intel 14th gen. problem that blew up in 2024. After doing some research I have found that my desktop (ROG G22CH) is running 0x129 and that it seems to be the latest version available to my motherboard on the website (https://rog.asus.com/ca-en/desktops/small-form-factor/rog-g22ch-series/helpdesk_bios/).
I am constantly met with a barrage of information online about how I have to go in my BIOS settings and change some stuff about the profiles, using default values (???), performance values (???), downloading chipset drivers and messing with overclocking settings. I am very tech illiterate and none of this is making any sense to me. I have messed with downloading drivers and bios settings with my past gaming ROG laptop and ended up messing up really badly.
What exactly am I supposed to do here? Do I just leave everything as is and ignore the warning message from Blizzard? People are saying not getting the right BIOS update is very dangerous for my computer. Will 0x129 protect my processors or is that version problematic? Is there one SIMPLE thing I should do in my bios settings that can help mitigate some of the issues of 0x129 that I can do to help my computer?
Thanks everyone

It seems that a new BIOS has been released on the g22ch support site!

Where? I’ve been looking every where and haven’t found anything. I just got a reply from ASUS support 5 days after they told me they would get back to me in two business days of my first inquiry and all they told me to do was check the rog forums for updates on when they will be releasing it. This is just completely ridiculous and very poor service and execution on this problem by Asus. Will not be buying a product of theirs in the future.

That's where the update for the ROG Strix G16CHR is. If you have a different model, just select yours from the drop down menu and see if your update is available.

I have updated my bios with the new microcode and everything seems to be working the way it should. I think I’ll be returning the open box G16chr I got from Best Buy that I paid just over $1600. The store price of the exact same model is $1400 on ASUS website lol.
