ROG Delta II virtual surround sound turns on by itself when it is turned off in the application

After the last software update, there was a problem with the sound settings of headphones connected via a 2.4Ghz receiver. The problem occurs both when starting the PC and when changing the playback device in windows and/or changing the frequency from 96000 to 48000 and vice versa. Maybe there is a way to reset the headset itself so that the "improvements" of the sound are turned off by default?

Hi @YGX ,

To assist you more accurately with the abnormal sound issue with your headset, we would like to further understand your situation.

  1. Description of abnormal sound: When you say "abnormal sound," do you mean that the volume suddenly increases or decreases, or is there noise or distortion? Please describe the issue in as much detail as possible.
  2. Connection method: Does this issue only occur when connecting via the 2.4GHz receiver? Does the problem occur with other connection methods, such as Bluetooth or wired connections?
  3. Firmware update: Have you confirmed that both the headset and receiver firmware are updated to the latest version?

If you can provide an audio recording, it would be very helpful for us to better understand the abnormal sound situation. Thank you.

The problem is present only when connected via the 2.42.4GHz receiver. There is no problem when connecting via bluetooth. The firmware is the latest at the moment, updated via armory create.
This distortion is due to the automatic activation of surround sound mode, even if this function is disabled in armory create.
This problem also exists with other ROG DELTA II users with whom I have communicated, the latest software update causes the surround sound mode to automatically turn on, although in the armory create settings these buttons are in the OFF position.
When you turn on your PC and the ROG DELTA II headset is connected via 2.4GHz, you immediately have a surround sound effect, whether you want it or not. Therefore, I believe that this error is caused by the latest firmware update of the device.

You are correct, the SDK 3.01.33 degrades sound quality of the Bongiovi Acoustic Render (it sound tiny) and also activates Surround sound by default, even if it is turned off in Armoury Crate.

You can try and disable the Enhanced audio feature on Windows Audio settings page (System > Audio > Properties).

I have the same problem. Everytime i stop a stream or game and start something new the surround sound is active again.

I have this problem too. It started after the last update.

I have to open armory crate and turn virual surround sound on and off again to disable it.

I have the same issue. And even if you turn it off in AC, when you stop and start a YT video it will be enabled again and it sounds horrible.

Having the exact same issue. A temporal workaround is to go to the sound setting of windows and disable sound enhancements. To do that navigate to control panel, click sound, then double click the Delta II device, click on enhancements and check the Disable all enhancements box. However this makes all other settings in AC useless as well. Although I don't need those settings I still hope ASUS can fix that asap

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem that has already been described several times in forums. After hours of troubleshooting, which almost drove me mad, I found the cause: The change in sound seems to be caused by the forced drivers. It is absolutely incomprehensible that this problem persists and that no solution has been offered to date.

I was only able to restore the original sound temporarily by switching the virtual surround sound on and off in Armoury Crate. Unfortunately, this only applies to the current application. As soon as I start a new YouTube video, for example, the problem reappears.

I urge you to provide a permanent solution and concrete solutions. Otherwise, I will not be able to use the ROG Delta 2 in its current form.
