Noticed an issue with the new ROG Delta II

PWN3D_

Hello,
I've taken this headset for a spin this week and so far it's really good, I did not even have to tweak my EQ for it, they sound pretty nice out of the box, and the extra battery is greatly apreciated comapred to a Delta S Wireless, so kudos to you guys!

I've noticed a little issue that I didn't have with the Delta S Wireless I was maining before:

When there is a period of silence (5/10 sec) it sound like the headset is going idle and when the sound resume, it take half a second to a second to hear it again (there is a fade before the sound resume). Meaning if I mute a video for a few moments and unmute it, you can miss some dialogue or context due to the fading. Same thing happen if I pause and unpause a video/song.

I've yet to game with them but I image that for example, a period of silence will put this headset on idle and take a long time, well longer that other player to resume, meaning that you can be handicap just because of this feature. I don't know if its a measure to save power  or if it's really not intended but it will be nice to be possible to have it dissable.

I don't know what are your thoughts about it, bit I don't think the "gamers" you are aiming for with this headset want any kind of delay that could alter the responsiveness of the sound in ANY circumstanse, even the rare one like my example!

Delta II is up to date to the last firmware 00.03.06.00

Edit: Well no need for speculative scenario, I just used it on discord while talking to someone and everytime there were a pause of 7/10 sec between wich of his sentence, I couldn't hear the begining of his sentence ... that's problematic!

Thanks!

Asus-Support answered my last mail with the following statement:

"After consultation with the business unit, we do not recommend the customer to use the old FW, which causes many problems.

As these headphones are designed for long standby operation, this problem is in conflict with the power saving mode of the headphones. And now we are still in debug mode. The business has also informed us that there will be a new FW version in mid-November to fix this problem.

Currently, we can only ask our customers to wake up the headset after standby mode or play soft music to prevent the headset from going into standby mode."

Even if the problem does bother me, I can live with it for a few more days; according to the description - and if it is true - a firmware update should be available within the next 3 weeks.

However, with a global brand like Asus and in view of the purchase price, there is a certain aftertaste that customers are the beta testers AND that a solution is simply not released promptly in the event of problems.
This is disappointing.

Thank you for the update @swatcher1

Like I said in a previous post, a change log would be beneficial to understand precisely which issues are being addressed, allowing users to weigh the pros and cons of updating.

It's reassuring to know that work is underway somewhere to develop a fix.

"Currently, we can only ask our customers to wake up the headset after standby mode or play soft music to prevent the headset from going into standby mode."

That is really funny; So turn off and on the headset everytime after 10 seconds of silence to make sure you can hear all of your sound when resuming OR put some random music at 1% volume at all time. It might work, but this is a hilarious workaround. It would have been beneficial to offer a method to revert the firmware to its original out-of-the-box version. But hey, those 10-hour YouTube videos are free, so here's the workaround!

This could have been avoided if someone at Asus had simply tested this headset for less than 2 minutes before pushing this update, but here we are.

I wonder if the aforementioned issue about the EQ not working correctly will be fixed as well in this upcoming November firmware update. Even with the standby issue apparently being addressed with this next firmware update, I am still very hesitant on updating since I had to go back to Microcenter and get a new unit so that I'm back on the older, working firmware. Pretty ridiculous that I wasn't able to just downgrade the firmware.

hmm.... my headset is 1 month old now and the upper cushion already slips out on both sides. O_o

I´m really not sure now whether my money was well invested here. =( Let´s see how Asus-Support handles this...

At least in Germany - they don´t handle it; they told me I have to contact the dealer it was bought at.
Dealer wants me to send it in. So...ok, yeah, I´m without a [good sounding] headset now for a while.
Positive: If the new one will arrive I don´t have to update to the buggy firmware again AND the new firmware could be out already. We will see.

For everyone here there may be a tempo fix by using the software Soundkeeper(github) (Developer's personal website where u can download it) which basically just plays a really tiny unhearable sound preventing the earphone from entering that bad power saving mode preventing us from hearing the first tone when it stays idle for some time. It can be set to launch on startup simply by throwing it to shell:startup (run it in Win+R). Also a modify in the file name is necessary as seems that only the "Sine" mode is effective for Delta II. I set it to"SoundKeeperSineA0.1.exe"("A" is amp which is basically volume of the tone) and it works fine. May be a solution before that new firmware comes out.

Hey folks,

my personal headset is still under repair - but Asus-support told me via mail that there is a new firmware out now (FW0.3.9.0) and available by Armory Crate.

Is there any chance someone of you would try this and tell us if the topic is fixed with that? 🙂

Having just tested the latest firmware (03.09.00) available via Armoury Crate, can confirm the fade impact has been resolved.

The problem has been solved with the new firmware ~ the rog delta ii now works perfectly.

With the new firmware, the fade problem is resolved for me as well. I encountered difficulties updating and had to use a different cable than the one that came with the headset.
