Noticed an issue with the new ROG Delta II

Hello,
I've taken this headset for a spin this week and so far it's really good, I did not even have to tweak my EQ for it, they sound pretty nice out of the box, and the extra battery is greatly apreciated comapred to a Delta S Wireless, so kudos to you guys!

I've noticed a little issue that I didn't have with the Delta S Wireless I was maining before:

When there is a period of silence (5/10 sec) it sound like the headset is going idle and when the sound resume, it take half a second to a second to hear it again (there is a fade before the sound resume). Meaning if I mute a video for a few moments and unmute it, you can miss some dialogue or context due to the fading. Same thing happen if I pause and unpause a video/song.

I've yet to game with them but I image that for example, a period of silence will put this headset on idle and take a long time, well longer that other player to resume, meaning that you can be handicap just because of this feature. I don't know if its a measure to save power  or if it's really not intended but it will be nice to be possible to have it dissable.

I don't know what are your thoughts about it, bit I don't think the "gamers" you are aiming for with this headset want any kind of delay that could alter the responsiveness of the sound in ANY circumstanse, even the rare one like my example!

Delta II is up to date to the last firmware 00.03.06.00

Edit: Well no need for speculative scenario, I just used it on discord while talking to someone and everytime there were a pause of 7/10 sec between wich of his sentence, I couldn't hear the begining of his sentence ... that's problematic!

Thanks!

@PWN3D_ It really doesn't bode well that the ASUS representatives and people who have denied the existence of this issue have given radio silence since their initial replies despite repeated pings over multiple weeks. We're not even asking for a resolution here, just to simply know whether this is an intentional feature or a bug to better advise users on their purchase decision. The lack of communication and/or product knowledge from the customer facing teams is really disappointing.

I´ve opened a ticket at Asus support for this, too - I will let you know if they answer there...

Hello,

I wanted to report that I am experiencing the same issue with my ROG Delta II headset as described by others. After a period of about 10 seconds of silence, there is a delay in the sound when it resumes. To reproduce the problem, I use Google Translate and type "This is a test," then wait for 10 seconds before clicking to hear the sound. I only hear "test" while "This is" gets cut off.

This issue happens consistently, and my headset is also updated to the latest firmware version 00.03.06.00. I haven’t noticed this problem with other devices, but it occurs when I use the 2.4GHz dongle.

It would be great if ASUS could investigate this and provide a fix or at least allow users to disable any power-saving feature that may be causing this delay.

Asus support contacted me today and requested various log files.

Knowing that there is no need for this and that 99% of the time no relevant information can be determined from them - but I made them available immediately of course.

As soon as there is anything new - I will let you know.

Perhaps it would be good if more of those affected would also open tickets with Asus support instead of ‘only’ writing in the forum in order to achieve a certain relevance. ^^

I have also contacted support, hoping it will help resolve the issue quickly, as that would be ideal. Personally, I plan to wait until my return period is nearly over before returning the product. It's a significant amount of money for a headset that doesn't play the start of YouTube videos or music correctly.

It sounds like you’ve had a positive initial experience with the headset, but I understand how the audio delay during periods of silence can be frustrating, especially for gaming and communication. This fade can impact responsiveness and clarity, which are crucial in those contexts. It’s possible the headset is entering a low-power state to conserve battery, but having an option to disable this feature would be ideal for a gaming headset. Many gamers value real-time audio without interruptions, so your feedback is definitely important. If you haven’t already, consider reaching out to customer support or checking their forums for potential solutions or updates regarding this issue. Your observations about user experience are valuable, and hopefully, they can address this in a future firmware update. If you have any other questions or need tips while using the headset, feel free to ask!

I have just received a replacement headset. The firmware version out of the box is 00.03.00.00 for both the headset and dongle.

I can confirm that the delay issue, as well as the slight fade after 10 seconds of muting, are no longer present.

We just have to wait now from Asus to confirm whether this is an issue or a design choice on their part, which would be quite foolish.

Meanwhile, I would advise against updating the firmware when prompted.

@PWN3D_ thanks for verifying this! Kind of insane it took less time for you to get a replacement headset and test this than for an ASUS representative to simply answer whether this is a firmware regression.

A new firmware will probably take some time; I received the following feedback from my local Asus support:

"Unfortunately, the answers from the head office are delayed as the office in Taiwan is closed until 13 October due to the bank holidays."
