[AI Router] How to Set Up Adaptive QoE and Bandwidth Limitation on ASUS Routers

Feature Overview
Adaptive QoE
The AI-powered Adaptive QoE technology can analyze packet content and behavior patterns in real time. It automatically identifies the requirements and priorities of each application and dynamically allocates network resources using bandwidth monitoring techniques. This ensures that users always enjoy the best experience under any network conditions.
AI Balance Mode
If you’re unsure which mode to choose, AI Mode is the recommended default. It automatically detects and balances bandwidth among all applications for overall network stability.
Gaming Mode
If you want to prioritize gaming performance, select Gaming Mode. It increases the traffic weight of game packets, reducing latency and ensuring lower ping.
Streaming Mode
If you frequently watch YouTube™, Netflix™, or other streaming services, choose Streaming Mode. It optimizes video traffic to reduce buffering and delays.
WFH Mode
If you rely on video conferencing and real-time voice calls, choose WFH Mode. It prioritizes applications such as Zoom™, Teams™ to ensure stable video and audio quality.
Office Mode
Ideal for small offices or multi-user environments, Office Mode balances the bandwidth usage among multiple devices and prioritizes cloud collaboration and email traffic.
Bandwidth Limitation
This feature allows you to limit the maximum download and upload speed for individual wired or wireless devices.
Up to 32 connected devices can be limited simultaneously.
Adaptive QoE Setup Steps
The example below shows the [AI Balance] mode.

If you want to manually adjust the weight of each category within a mode, you can drag the Optimization Adjustment sliders. Simply drag with your mouse to set the category weights, then click Apply to complete the setup.

Bandwidth Limiter Setup Steps
1. Log in to your router’s web management interface and click Adaptive QoE on the left menu.
2. Click the [Bandwidth Limiter] tab.
3. Toggle the [Bandwidth Limiter switch] to ON.
4. Select the device you wish to limit.
5. Set the maximum upload and download bandwidth for that device.
6. Click [new device] to add
7. After adding, click [Apply] to save the configuration.

FAQ
1. Can Adaptive QoE and Bandwidth Limiter be used together?
Yes. When both are enabled, traffic will first be processed by the Bandwidth Limiter, and then Adaptive QoE will perform demand-based and priority-based optimization.
2. Why does the Bandwidth Limiter not work as expected for a device?
(1) Confirm with your ISP what your maximum bandwidth plan is.
(2) Ensure that the upload and download limits you set are lower than the ISP’s provided bandwidth.
3. Can I optimize both gaming and video conferencing at the same time?
Yes. We recommend using the AI Balance mode — it automatically balances traffic across multiple applications without manual switching.
4. Will enabling these features make my internet faster?
Not exactly. These features don’t increase total bandwidth — instead, they help you use your existing bandwidth more efficiently.
By prioritizing critical applications, Adaptive QoE ensures smoother data flow from devices to the router, delivering a more stable overall network experience.
