- Intel ME Consumer Firmware :

Firmware : 16.1.35.2557 [31/07/2024]
PMC Firmware : 160.2.00.1043
PCHC Firmware : 16.1.0.1014

PHY N Firmware : 13.62.211.7255

Check/Update Process :

Check current version : Right click on "Check.cmd" > Run as administrator

Install/Update : Right click on "Install.cmd" > Run as administrator > Automatic restart when install is done

OS requirements : Windows 10 64 bit or more recent.
Hardware requirements : Motherboards with Intel H610/B660/H670/Z690/B760/H770/Z790 chipset.

Cant get this to work, I try to use the files and it does nothing at all but flash then close with FWUpdLcl64 or open and let me press a button to continue but nothing installs which is the case with the check and install files. I am on ME 2240.3.4.0 and current firmware is 16.1.25.2020

EDIT: Never mind got it. For some odd reason I had to downgrade to a previous version then reinstall MEI 2240.3.4.0 before it worked.
Quick follow-up should I upgrade from 2240.3.4.0 to 2247.3.5.0 or MEI_Intel_v2251.4.2.0 ? I am using a Maximus Z790 Extreme and 13900KS.

Hi,

Just move the firmware package to another location (for example in your Downloads folder) than where you are currently launching it from.

Please, do not mix the types/sources of firmware/drivers you use :

Intel ME Firmware :

- ME_Intel_vxx.x.xx.xxxx : This is the syntax I use for the naming of my Intel ME firmware packages which are directly based on Intel tool, without intermediary/overlay.

- MEUpdateTool_xx.x.xx.xxxx_x : This is the syntax ASUS use for the naming of Intel ME firmware packages from your motherboard support page which are also based on Intel tool but with the ASUS ME Update Tool intermediary/overlay and its artificial restrictions (like the targeted drivers version number, even if you have newer version) hence the extra files/folders compared to my packages.

Intel MEI Drivers :

- Drivers & Software Package from your motherboard support page contains Intel MEI Driver and all the imposed SWC drivers (DAL, ICLS & WMI) but also SWC/Ext optional drivers and unnecessary for most consumer users.

- Drivers Package (Drivers Only) that I offer contains Intel MEI Driver and only the imposed DAL, ICLS & WMI SWC drivers (If you don't install the imposed SWC drivers, Windows Update will install them for you with older versions because the install order of these SWC drivers is initied/imposed by Intel MEI driver itself).


So If you have used drivers packages from others types/sources than what I offer and want to use my drivers packages, I advise you to do this :

- Uninstall Intel Management Engine Components from your apps installed (Start > Settings > Apps) then restart your PC
- Launch Driver Store Explorer > Check the boxes of all versions of these drivers .inf (if you find them) : heci.inf | dal.inf | dal_wc.inf | iclsclient.inf | lms.inf | mesrl.inf | mewmiprov.inf | wiman.inf | wiman_wlan_extension.inf
- Check the box "Force Deletion" then click on the "Delete Driver" button then restart your PC
- Download the Intel MEI drivers package from the first post of this thread : [DRIVERS] Intel Chipset/MEI/VMD (6xx/7xx)
- Follow the Install/Update Process

If you are already using the Intel MEI drivers package from my thread : You can update directly by following the Install/Update Process.

Thank you. Where I got a bit mixed up was lack of sleep and installing the latest test bios for the z790 Extreme 0036 from 3-15-2023 they (Asus Dev) recommended using your firmware 16.1.25.2124 so I will use that along with the steps you detailed to also use your MEI 2251.4.2.0 Thanks it gets very confusing when their DEVS mention to use your work and forget to mention the MEI should probably be yours too.

Hi, Have not posted on here for quite a while. I am running a Z790 Hero board, currently on ME version 16.1.25.2020.

Would it be ok to go to build 2024 listed above please? Just wanted to check before doing so.

It's adviced to go with ME v16.1.25.2124 for Z790 bords if you are on latest bios. Avoid the newest version if you are on Z690 boards (then use the older version 16.1.25.2020).

If Safedisk avoid it or don't bother with it then why flash it? Hi was also the firts to post lastest bios for Z690 Apex.

And from my old learnings with custom made bios for laptops (LGA socket), flashing newer ME only for the sake of it's newer isn't advised. Should be avoided to keep HW stability. You may not experience problems and the changes are minimal vs previous ME version... But don't expect this will be the exactly same experience for all others.

This was a great advice from firmware modder Prema a few years ago. A well known firmware modder for Clevo laptops. And as I already mentioned. Safedisk work close with Asus. And I expect he would advice you to install latest ME if this was a good or the best idea. The latest ME was released long time before relase of latest bios for Z690. But he didn't. 

Everyone is free to flash whatever firmware out there. And I see this everyday.... Complaints and half crying about less working pc's. Yep, To each their own.

on a Z790-p it doesnt work but not surprised anymore asus are making everything worse every day just like microsoft.
