Windows defender do not permit this download - says about virus inside and erases the content right away.

Be aware, my processor OC was unstable after this and you can't go back. I am investigating further to see what it takes to tweak it back stable. So far I have tried resetting CMOS and reapplying settings.

Well I believe a clear-cmos, restore values and memory retrain, and adding 10 mv vcore bump seems to have gotten me back to where I was before on my 51x all-core. Guess I should have left well enough alone.

99% of the times the FW updates are security oriented, and in general the performance is crippled
I learned the hard way during time this - I still remember with Apex Z390 board, out of boredom I did a FW update, and then I noticed loss of performance in all synthetic tests and most important, in games!
and once the FW is updated, going back is virtually impossible
so I'm leaving the FW default from now on... unless they will issue one for performance, which is unlikely... if FW is constantly updated, 1-2% at least lost every time... forced somehow to "upgrade" to the next generation and so on... 🙂

Hello,
Obviously this will depend on the changes between UEFI builds. The consensus, unfortunately, over the last couple of years is that performance is worse due to the barrage of ucode security updates that had a negative impact on certain workload performance. These have plateaued at this stage, so most changes to the firmware will likely bring stability improvements.
