Followed your instructions and updated to newest Realtek USB Audio driver but still getting crackling, popping, buzzing noises from both front and rear audio out ports while gaming. All audio enhancements are disabled. Since my headphones do not have a mic, I have also tried disabling front mic line in but nothing has helped.

My Hardware
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair X870e Hero (Realtek ALC4082)
Headphones: Beyerdynamic DT 700 PRO X
OS: Windows 11 Pro v24H2 Build 26100.2033

Hi,

You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC40xx codec, so :

You need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) from the first post of this thread.

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

I have installed the correct driver, exactly as described by the instructions. Disabling hibernation did not fix the problem. After searching the Web, I can see there are a lot of other people who are reporting trouble (buzzing, popping, crackling noise) with the Realtek ALC408x chip. As I said, all audio enhancements have been disabled, amplify level has been reduced to Performance, and Default Format has been reduced to 48000Hz 16bits but nothing has improved from the front and rear line out ports. I can literally hear the amount of electricity that my system is using through my headphones. The noise is so intrusive that I cannot use my computer for anything that requires audio.

Here are my Realtek Audio Console settings

Hi, I had the same problem.
There should be a Firmware update for your sound card on the driver page of the motherboard model you are using.
When you install it, the problem should be fixed.
ASUS uses the ALC4080 sound chip on many X670, B650, Z790, Z690 motherboards.
They have released Firmware updates for this sound chip over time to address the sound cracking issue.

https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z790-e-gaming-wifi-model/helpdesk_bios/

For example, there is a Firmware update on the Asus ROG Z790E Gaming Wifi motherboard driver page. This is the latest FW update for ALC4080. It can also be used on other motherboards. Because the sound chip is an independent component from the motherboard. And the FW update will not cause a problem. If you specify the sound chip and model of your motherboard, I can help.

After the FW Update, you should install the latest driver shared by Mokichu according to the instructions.
After this, the sound problem should no longer occur.
Please install the driver according to the instructions.
But be sure to check the FW update on your motherboard's page.
