OS requirements : Windows 10 64 bit or more recent.
Hardware requirements (AMD) : ASUS ROG motherboards with AMD 5xx/6xx/8xx series chipsets with ALC40xx codec.
Hardware requirements (AMD - sTRX4) : ASUS ROG/PRIME motherboards with AMD TRX40 chipset.
Hardware requirements (Intel) : ASUS ROG motherboards with Intel 5xx/6xx/7xx/8xx series chipsets with ALC40xx codec.

Note : In order to know which drivers package to use, match the audio specifications of your motherboard with the apps or ask me.

TIPS :

If you want to manage the drivers (remove old/unused drivers for example) that you have in your Windows DriverStore
Use Driver Store Explorer (Right click on "Rapr.exe" > Run as administrator).

If you want better interrupts delivery latency
Enable MSI (Message Signaled-based Interrupts) mode on all your supported devices (see the column "supported modes") with
MSI Mode Utility (Right click on "MSI_Mode_Utility_v3.exe" > Run as administrator).

If you experience crackling, popping, audio stutter
Disable hibernation (Fast Startup included).

I have a ROG Strix TRX40-E mobo. After recent audio driver updates, the VID & PID suddenly changed. It was VID_0B05&PID_1917 before. But now it becomes VID_0B05&PID_1918. And the SS3 & Realtek Audio Console no longer works (probably because PID_1918 is not listed in ExtRtkUsb & AVoluteSS3Ext.inf, related software components not loading).

In the device manager, there is a hidden "Realtek USB Audio" device that has VID_0B05&PID_1917. After removing the old drivers in the driver store, the hidden device disappears.

I found the firmware of Realtek USB audio got silently updated after updating the driver. The FW version now is 4.302.0000-0007.0000.

BTW the mic volume is extremely low (I have a high-end 3.5mm camera microphone, which works well on camera & iPhone & MacBook). I tried different versions of drivers and cannot get it fixed.

This FW update tool (https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/01AUDIO/USB_Audio_FW_Update_Tool_VID0B05_2021-11-25_ASUS.zip) doesn't recognize my device. But I found another FW update tool provided by asrock (https://www.asrock.com/support/faq.asp?id=488) that can recognize my audio device.
 I can even flash the asrock firmware and use the asrock drivers. Flashing the asrock firmware will cause the VID & PID changing to the asrock one (VID_26CE&PID_0A01). To rollback to the asus FW, I just install the latest driver here and manually load it in the device manager. It looks like the driver will update the FW when loaded.

That doesn't sound good, jsq2627. I think there are steps posted by MoKiChU around here somewhere on how to cleanup the drivers.

Actually, I cleaned up and retried several times, and even reinstalled my win11.
But unluckily, I cannot get my FW rollback to the initial one (that reports PID_1917). and even with the old drivers after a clean Win11 install, SS3 & Realtek Audio Console doesn't work anymore.

Not sure this is much help, my thinking would be that best driver package to try is earliest one from the asus support site. And only install it after making sure all realtek is uninstalled. I would even shut off/pause windows updates or just disable network while you uninstall and remove drivers by clean-up with Driver Store Explorer and then last check show hidden devices in device manager and delete them. Then try those original drivers/apps.

Now hopefully someone with actual experience in this situation will add their experience.

Edit to add this: Maybe a BIOS reset to defaults would not be a bad idea.

One more suggestion. Cleanup temp files and prefetch files before the driver installation.

Update: I have a solution!!!

By doing some reverse engineering on RTUSBAIODAT.DAT, I extracted the correct firmware for VID_0B05 & HID_1917. After flashing the firmware, everything is back! SS3 & Realtek console works now.

For anyone who has the same problem as me:
1. Download the flashing tool mentioned here: https://www.asrock.com/support/faq.asp?id=488
2. Extract the files, DELETE the bundled firmware file (`ALC4050.rfw`).
3. Download this firmware (ALC1220-VB-0B05-1917.rfw): https://mega.nz/file/kVswlbBJ#EYHgyRhOayGROm19wdO-BK1_h2DzeLrGcS5zL3TUY1Y
4. Put `ALC1220-VB-0B05-1917.rfw` next to the executable `UacCodecDownload_AllInOne_RsProxy_2.64.10(2018-11-16).exe`.
5. Run `UacCodecDownload_AllInOne_RsProxy_2.64.10(2018-11-16).exe`, flashing the firmware.

The low mic issue is also fixed once firmware & driver loads correctly.

How did you extract the firmware from the RTUSBAIODAT.dat file? I'm having the same issue :'( but instructions are unclear. I was able to view the folder structure by changing the extension to .7z, but not sure how to generate the .rfw file.

Hello and thank you for your help. For a Strix Z690-E I'm assuming I download the first link? Is there a reason this isn't updated on the official drivers page? Thanks again.

Are these drivers for B450f gaming?
I've tried everything but the sound does not work correctly SS3 is not recognized and closes by itself. I already downloaded the drivers from here and followed the steps correctly but...
I have an A50 headset connected to the optical output.

Unfortunately these drivers have issues. They slow boot times by almost 10 seconds. You can hear a soft boom from bass when they are loading. To check, just remove the drivers (same way as MoKichu's advice). You will see boot times improve. Doing a boot trace closely shows the lagging is sound driver related.

There is absolutely no information on this driver neither from Realtek or any board maker for that matter.
However, the sound is good but not to the detriment of performance. I have opened a ticket.

Waiting for next driver.
