Hardware requirements (AMD - sTRX4) : ASUS ROG/PRIME motherboards with AMD TRX40 chipset.
Hardware requirements (Intel) : ASUS ROG motherboards with Intel 5xx/6xx/7xx/8xx series chipsets with ALC40xx codec.

Note : In order to know which drivers package to use, match the audio specifications of your motherboard with the apps or ask me.

TIPS :

If you want to manage the drivers (remove old/unused drivers for example) that you have in your Windows DriverStore
Use Driver Store Explorer (Right click on "Rapr.exe" > Run as administrator).

If you want better interrupts delivery latency
Enable MSI (Message Signaled-based Interrupts) mode on all your supported devices (see the column "supported modes") with
MSI Mode Utility (Right click on "MSI_Mode_Utility_v3.exe" > Run as administrator).

If you experience crackling, popping, audio stutter
Disable hibernation (Fast Startup included).

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You have an ASUS ROG Realtek|Dolby Atmos motherboard with ALC40xx codec, so :

You need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG RTK-Dolby) from the first post of this thread.

Hi,

You cannot choose a drivers package type, each drivers package type is dedicated to each motherboards type.

Hi MoKiChU, I hope you can help me diagnose issues I am having with my audio.

I have an ROG X670e Hero motherboard, which if I am not mistaken requires the (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) drivers.

I have meticulously followed the steps to completely remove the old drivers, using Driver Store Explorer to look for each of the potential leftovers and removing them, then using SS3 cleaner to clean up anything else.

I reboot between each of these steps and then run the install.cmd file as administrator.

The issue that I am having is that the installer doesn't seem to replace the default Microsoft Realtek USB2.0 Audio driver, this remains as the Microsoft installed driver (Dated 03/07/2024). If I manually update the driver and browse my computer for drivers, selecting the folder with the AUDIO_Realtek_USB_UAD_ASUS_ROG_SS3-DTS_v6.4.0.2406 drivers, it does install the driver but audio breaks on my computer. When I open up the sound control panel, the device list keeps flickering (as if devices are being removed and added constantly). When I attempt to test either the digital optical device or the USB Audio speakers, windows fails to play the test tone.

The Realtek Audio Control app also refuses to install at any point, giving an error of 0x803FB005 - but I don't know if this error is the cause of my other issue or a symptom of it.

I have gone through the steps several times over, I've even tried different driver packs in this thread in case I got it wrong but the behaviour is the same. I actually came upon this thread because I have the same issue with the driver download from Asus' motherboard support page and was hoping for a solution.

I feel as though I am missing something key here, but I don't know what. I am on Windows 11, it's fully up to date.

Any ideas?

Apologies, I didn't mean to use you as a support channel, I just wanted to confirm I hadn't missed any of your steps.

I think I managed to resolve my issue, through a series of things I'm not sure which ultimately led to it being fixed but here's what I did:

  • I installed all Firmware updates, including PD and Audio FW (This is annoying because Asus doesn't always put the latest Realtek firmware on the support page). Make sure you expand to show all downloads on the support page as Asus lumps BIOS and FW updates together.
  • I completely removed all traces of any drivers, using the steps in the opening of this post
  • I rebooted into SAFE MODE (without networking) and ran Install_SAFE_MODE.cmd, when I rebooted my soundcard had FINALLY picked up the correct driver.

Hope these steps help others that are having the same problem.

hello. i m using 9700X with ASUS B650E-F. which i have to download it?

If you are asking about sound problems then Audio ALC4080/ALC4082 FW update tool (section "BIOS & FIRMWARE" from the support page to the motherboard).  Or more recent ones from other motherboards pages, for example - ROG MAXIMUS XIII APEX or ROG STRIX Z590-E GAMING WIFI (at your own risk). I didn't install the drivers from this page (i have 2406 installed). If you want to install a newer 2413 driver then - Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS).

Hi MoKiChu,

Thank you very much for your hard work. I have a question regarding the audio drivers for Z790 Dark Hero. Should I use the Realtek Audio driver or the Realtek USB Audio driver? Additionally, should I choose SS or SS3?

Thank you!
