TIPS :
If you want to manage the drivers (remove old/unused drivers for example) that you have in your Windows DriverStore
Use Driver Store Explorer (Right click on "Rapr.exe" > Run as administrator).
If you want better interrupts delivery latency
Enable MSI (Message Signaled-based Interrupts) mode on all your supported devices (see the column "supported modes") with
MSI Mode Utility (Right click on "MSI_Mode_Utility_v3.exe" > Run as administrator).
If you experience crackling, popping, audio stutter
Disable hibernation (Fast Startup included).

Followed your instructions and updated to newest Realtek USB Audio driver but still getting crackling, popping, buzzing noises from both front and rear audio out ports while gaming. All audio enhancements are disabled. Since my headphones do not have a mic, I have also tried disabling front mic line in but nothing has helped.
My Hardware
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair X870e Hero (Realtek ALC4082)
Headphones: Beyerdynamic DT 700 PRO X
OS: Windows 11 Pro v24H2 Build 26100.2033

Hi,
You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC40xx codec, so :
You need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) from the first post of this thread.
Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

I have installed the correct driver, exactly as described by the instructions. Disabling hibernation did not fix the problem. After searching the Web, I can see there are a lot of other people who are reporting trouble (buzzing, popping, crackling noise) with the Realtek ALC408x chip. As I said, all audio enhancements have been disabled, amplify level has been reduced to Performance, and Default Format has been reduced to 48000Hz 16bits but nothing has improved from the front and rear line out ports. I can literally hear the amount of electricity that my system is using through my headphones. The noise is so intrusive that I cannot use my computer for anything that requires audio.
Here are my Realtek Audio Console settings

Hi, I had the same problem.
There should be a Firmware update for your sound card on the driver page of the motherboard model you are using.
When you install it, the problem should be fixed.
ASUS uses the ALC4080 sound chip on many X670, B650, Z790, Z690 motherboards.
They have released Firmware updates for this sound chip over time to address the sound cracking issue.
https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z790-e-gaming-wifi-model/helpdesk_bios/
For example, there is a Firmware update on the Asus ROG Z790E Gaming Wifi motherboard driver page. This is the latest FW update for ALC4080. It can also be used on other motherboards. Because the sound chip is an independent component from the motherboard. And the FW update will not cause a problem. If you specify the sound chip and model of your motherboard, I can help.
After the FW Update, you should install the latest driver shared by Mokichu according to the instructions.
After this, the sound problem should no longer occur.
Please install the driver according to the instructions.
But be sure to check the FW update on your motherboard's page.

Hey. Thanks for replying. From what I understand, the Realtek audio chip for the Crosshair X870e Hero is ALC4082. I have looked at the BIOS & Firmware webpage for the Crosshair X870e Hero but the only available download is the BIOS version 0505 which I have already updated. The Driver & Tools page for the Crosshair X870e Hero only shows the previous USB Audio Realtek driver version 6.3.9600.2393.
Are you saying that the "Audio ALC4080 FW update tool" will fix the crackling problem with the Realtek ALC4082, too? Will there be any hardware conflicts with installing the firmware update tool on an AMD board?

Your motherboard is a newer generation motherboard.
First Step; If your audio codec is ALC4082, you can download and apply the fix patch from a motherboard page that also uses the 4082 codec and has a published firmware.
The critical issue here is which version of the audio codec is and whether the FW has been published.
If the FW has not been published, you will wait for the motherboard manufacturer to publish it.
Second Step; If the sound crackling is happening through the analog output, I suggest you try and check the optical output.
Apart from that, I am leaving the following link shared by a user who had the same or similar problem as you. I suggest you follow the steps in the topic and check if the sound is cracking.

The audio firmware update tools are board-specific, I have tried both of the Crosshair X670e Hero and Strix Z790-E Gaming WiFi updaters but neither are compatible with the Crosshair X870e Hero. Maybe I'll check if the S/PDIF performs differently but I'm tired of chasing my tail to solve this.
Thanks for sharing the Reddit link but I am waiting for the X870e Hero ALC4082 firmware update tool to be released. It's infuriating that manufacturers are knowingly selling boards with flawed components. I'm not sure who is more at fault, ASUS or Realtek, but both of them are aware of problems with the ALC4080 and ALC4082 codecs - otherwise there wouldn't be audio firmware update tools, that are digitally signed by Realtek Semiconductor Corp., on the ASUS motherboard downloads list. Evidently this has been an ongoing issue for years and these components are still leaving the factories with the problematic firmware instead of the revised version.

Hi everyone,
For information :
Source : https://support.microsoft.com/windows/d5c2cdcd-83a2-4805-abb0-c6888138e456
So, no worries if you upgraded to Windows 11 24H2 from a previous version, but if you plan to do a clean install of Windows 11 24H2, be aware that any AC-3 content will no longer be decoded/played natively, you will need to install an Dolby Digital Plus Decoder addon from the Microsoft Store.
For this purpose, I added an Dolby Digital Plus Decoder addon Microsoft Store shortcut in "Apps" folder of all audio drivers packages.
Drivers packages updated.
