Hi everyone,

- New audio drivers package type have been added to the thread for the ASUS ROG SS|DTS Sound Unbound motherboards :

Thread & post updated.

Is there a way around using SS w/o downloading Armoury Crate for the refresh Z790 boards?

@MoKiChU

This update breaks mic gain settings(mic boost). Defaults to +0 and changing it to any other value does nothing.

Even after trying twice with "cleanup" method I had to revert back to regain that functionality.

Yup same here, went back to previous driver that MoKiChU provided and its now working again...

MoKiChU we understand you don't provide any support, we thank you for doing what you do, just want to be clear I am just posting so if someone else has this issue they know its a bug...hopefully this will be fixed in a future update from Realtek...

+1

I just ditched the SS3 in favor of Realtek Audio Console 1.47.309.0 as suggested by @FireRx  (thanks) and can confirm the mic boost does nothing.

Anyway, why is the microphone so quiet by default so we actually need boosting it? I mean like nobody can hear you, you have to scream at 100% of recording volume and people can bearly hear you. I'm using a 10$ AliExpress USB sound card because of this as in Linux, mic boost introduces a lot of noise (software boost).

yeah, I boosted it to 10+ in the menu on the Realtek Audio console and worked fine.

 Also, "Amplify audio" setting is broken for front audio jack (doesn't do anything)

I enabled in bios for Armoury Crate. And downloaded. Did not see any Sonic Studio tab like i see in the photo above. Looked at every tab and settings, did not find a way to install.

Since Asus decided to ditch SS3 in favor of amoury crate, I have to ask. What features am I losing if I just use the 3MB WHQL driver instead of 3GB armoury crate? It should work fine for headphones right
