EDITED on 7-JUNE-2024: Please see the next message where MokiChU has corrected my message. Please use his message to help yourself.
For anyone, who likes to know if they have Realtek USB Audio or not, you can follow the simple steps below:
STEP 1 - In the windows search bar type either "Computer Management" or "Device Manager" to open either application. I will use "Device Manager" for my screenshots because in Computer Manager, you can click on Device Manager to get to the same information since Computer Management is a container for couple of these individual panels to be shown together for quick troubleshooting.
NOTE: The screenshots are from my Z790 DARK HERO board
STEP 2 - Expand "Sound, video and game controllers" so that you can see "Realtek USB Audio" as shown above in the screenshot.
STEP 3 - Now right click on the "Realtek USB Audio" and choose Properties from the popup menu as shown below in the screenshot.
STEP 4 - Click on the EVENTS TAB as shown in the screenshot below and click on the very first event with description "Device install requested." as shown in the screenshot below.
STEP 5 - In the INFORMATION area of this window you can see the DEVICE information. In my case, it is starting with USB. My full device string in the screenshot above is "USB\VID_0B05&PID_1A98&MI_00\6&27158842&0&0000". This is the device windows is looking for in the driver installation files. Since it starts with USB, it means you have the newer motherboard that MUST use the Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS-DTS) drivers that @MoKiChU keeps referring to in the very first post or politely keeps reminding all of us here as to which one to use. Otherwise your motherboard is on the older technology stack and you should try using the Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS Legacy) version of the installers.
Hopefully, with this information you all can find out on your own and decide which driver link to use from the very first post of this thread.

Hi,
This is correct even if this seems logical. To find out if you have an Realtek USB Audio controller or an Realtek Audio controller, you have to check your Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers :
Realtek USB Audio device = Realtek USB Audio controller
Realtek(R) Audio device = Realtek Audio controller

This is incorrect. The fact that the hardware ID of your Realtek USB Audio device starts with "USB" means absolutely nothing other than that you are using an Realtek USB Audio controller. Whether you have an ASUS ROG SS|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC40xx codec or an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC40xx codec or an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with AMD TRX40 chipset, the hardware ID of your Realtek USB Audio device starts with "USB".
On the other hand, you can determine by yourself your motherboard audio type by your hardware ID, you have to check your Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > Right click on your Realtek USB Audio device > Properties > Details tab > Hardware Ids :
ASUS ROG SS|DTS Sound Unbound motherboards with ALC40xx codec Hardware Ids :
ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboards with ALC40xx codec Hardware Ids :

My frustration is rising! I went to open Realtek Audio Console and Sonic Studio III, but they just won't budge. I searched for solutions online, even followed guides for the latest drivers, but no luck. Every time I try to open the Audio Console, it throws this error: "Cannot connect to RPC service." The kicker? My sound works fine, but it bugs me that the software isn't functioning fully. Now I can't even enable spatial audio for my speakers!

@kavencsteve What is the motherboard model? What is the currently installed driver version you are using? What is the version of the Realtek Audio Control App? Did you ever manually change which Windows services should run or not and tried to optimize your Windows environment? What version of Windows are you using? Can you please post a screenshot of all the service you see in the Windows Services Control Panel (you may need to add more than 1 picture as the list will not fit into 1 screenshot) along with which one is running for us to help?

Please add a note to the install instructions. If you are gaming do NOT install the Sonic software. It is the cause of frequent game crashes. The Realtek Audio Control software does not work under Windows 11.
Tested on Windows 11 Pro - Release 23H2
Motherboard: ROG STRIX Z690-E GAMING WIFI
Device: Realtek USB Audio
HWID: USB\VID_0B05&PID_1996&MI_00
Type: SS3
Game Test: Ubisoft's Skull n Bones is unplayable with Sonic Software installed, multiple game crashes
I added this because I was inspired by the brilliant information you have provided @MoKiChU Kudo's!
If you would like more testing just reach out to me in Sydney, Australia!
