Hi everyone,

I remind you that I do not work for ASUS (everything I do for the ASUS ROG community is out of passion, on a voluntary basis) and I do not replace ASUS Support :

- If you have any issue with the last audio drivers package from this thread : CLEANUP process then install/use the last audio drivers package from your motherboard support page.

- If you have any issue with the last audio drivers package from your motherboard support page : Contact ASUS Support and/or open a new thread in this ROG Care category : ROG Care - Hardware & Software Support - Gaming Motherboards.

@MoKiChU Thank you very much for your answer. I know you do this job voluntarily. I wanted to write here in case there are other people experiencing the same problem.
I opened a different title in the section you mentioned (ROG Care).

@MoKiChU or anyone else here who knows a little bit about programming can you please help me with following questions?

I have Z790 Dark Hero Motherboard and the Official Audio Driver via Armoury Crate as well as the support website is v6.3.9600.2368 and the most recent driver posted in the thread is v6.3.9600.2379

When I compare the two drivers, I notice the following changes/fixes.

  1.  In "Drivers\USBAud\Win64\Realtek\CodecExtOem_RTK_76\ExtRtXUsb_Asus_BJ_RTK.inf" file WAVOUT5 has a new configuration.
    1. What physical endpoint is considered WaveOut5? Is it the front panel headphone jack or something else? Does anyone know.
    2. The way I read this change, it is BYPASSING Bongiovi Driver processing on this specific physical output hence I would like to know which output is this one.
    3. The actual code line in this INF that I am referencing is "HKR,InterfaceSetting,WaveOut5,0x10008,"SysCustomizedNoBJFx"" where you see a new NoBJFx is later defined in this file.
    4. I have noticed that the recording modes are not working i.e. I can only record at 48K 2 Channel. If I change the recording mode all I end up recording is just static. I believe this new version has this fixed as I notice the following change.
    5. I see "HKR,InterfaceSetting\SysRecCustomizedFx\FX\0,%PKEY_CompositeFX_ModeEffectClsid%,%REG_MULTI_SZ%,%REALTEKREC_VOLMFX_CLSID%,%REALTEKREC_MFX_CLSID%,%REALTEKREC_INVVOLMFX_CLSID%" line in this file and I see the inclusion of %REALTEKREC_MFX_CLSID% which should fix or allow using the mode, I think. I am not sure as I have do some testing on this driver as to what it is fixing with respect to recording.
  2. In "Drivers\USBAud\Win64\Realtek\RealtekService_724\RealtekService.inf" file I see the "Realtek Audio Universal Service" automatic start problem has been fixed.
    1. If you open Windows Services Control Panel, you will notice that "Realtek Audio Universal Service" is set to start Automatically yet its status is not Running. You can manually start it but everytime you reboot, you will have to manually start it up again. This problem is now fixed here as the older versions has the path defined incorrectly which is now fixed.
    2. In older versions the path is wrapped in double quotes, and it should not be wrapped.
    3. I am referring to "ServiceBinary = %13%\RtkAudUService64.exe" line which is now fixed.

Does anyone know what the RealTek Control Center "Amplify Level" is supposed to do? It is not doing anything for me on the older/official v6.3.9600.2368 driver version for me?

achugh_0-1716681000777.png

Also, if I change the Default Format from 48K 24Bits to any other value then my headphone volume goes down to about 50%. To restore the volume, I have to click on Reset button next to it and Shutdown (not restart) and then Start up Windows 11 again after waiting for some time.

The reason I am interested in this driver is because my Microphone volume is really low. See https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-motherboards/re-rog-maximus-z790-dark-hero-low-microphone-volum... for my attempts to fix it so far. I have uninstalled Bongiovi Drivers and that has not fixed anything for me.

I am also noticing that as soon as the microphone is put into recording mode, I hear a loud pop in my recordings even after removing Bongiovi drivers. See the above thread about my microphone issues showing waveforms of these pops in the recordings.

The only way, I am able to fix these pops is going into RealTek Control Panel and clicking RESET for Microphone and then doing a cold start (i.e. Shutdown, wait for some time and Restart) and not touching anything afterwards from the RealTek Control Panel. If I touch anything in the RealTek Control Panel these recording pops return.

If anyone knows what is causing these recording pops and how to fix them, your help will be highly appreciated.

FYI, I am also working in https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-audio/bongiovi-acoustics-audio-enhancements-causes-problems/td-... thread where these loud pops are being discussed.

Hi,

You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC40xx codec, so :

You need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) from the first post of this thread.

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

- From your motherboard SPDIF port : Whatever the range or the brand, be aware that you will not be able nowadays to find motherboard that can output 5.1 PCM (uncompressed) or 5.1 DTS/Dolby (compressed) via SPDIF port, only Stereo PCM. However, your Logitech Z-906 audio system can then either playback the Stereo PCM stream as it is, or upmix it to Stereo x2 or 5.1 Dolby Digital Pro Logic II. So, if you want at all costs to output 5.1 PCM (uncompressed) or 5.1 DTS/Dolby (compressed) via SPDIF port from your PC, you have no choice but to rollback to your Creative Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus dedicated sound card.

- From your motherboard 3.5mm jack port : You can use 5.1 PCM via 3.5mm jack (https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1045991) with your Logitech audio system (and you can use SS3's Upmix / Surround option to upmix the sound in 5.1 whatever audio content is played) or you can use Stereo PCM via 3.5mm jack with your Logitech audio system (and you can use your Logitech Z-906 audio system to upmix to 5.1 Dolby Digital Pro Logic II to upmix the sound in 5.1 whatever audio content is played).
