Something so awful yet so good: Lian-Li ITX WEEE-build

So wanted to join 5.0GHz stable system club so here we go...

Hardware:

• Intel Sandy Bridge 2600k from early 2012 batch
  
• Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe, 2nd hand WEEE
  
• G.Skill 16GB DDR3-2133MHz
  
• GTX 770 4GB (breaking down, WEEE)
  
• Intel 180GB + 60GB SSDs
  
• Seagate 8000 + 1000 + 1000 + 320GB HDDs
  
• Asetek AIO Coolers from WEEE dumpster
  
• Lian-Li PC-Q08B
  
• Corsair HX650W Bronze
  
• EKWB single 5.25" reservoir
  

First we need more radiator room:





5.25" bay needed a bit modification so hoses can come out from radiator



And then we can see how they fit (ignore motherboard)






Hosing done:



Added some chinese different color temp white leds to reservoir



Because reservoir has 1 inlet, and 2 outlets decided to use one outlet for liquid temperature sensor



And when doing SFF water custom loops and using WEEE parts some clever mods are required



I wonder if Asus VRM module is water proof in case of catastrophic leak?

How much small case weights in full load:


Lets leave the system on with benchmark loop to heat up liquid and see if leaks happen



With leak test being done and no problems happened, it is time to change in the final motherboard


Woops (it is okay, I have a spare backplate!)

Hopefully future motherboards won't have oversized coils behind motherboard that block back plate installation

And then just apply overclocks, do stability test and see if anything blows up:

Updated GPU, added mini pcie to 2x sata controller board, one dead HDD, killed one GTX 770, another GTX 770 survived and now finally we have Asus GTX 1080 Ti Turbo inside.

But first had to modify GPU bracket a bit...
