nice build. i had that ram when i first built my system. i ditched it though because i didnt like the way it worked with the crosshair board. i went ahead and got the amd gaming ram. i liked it better because the red and black as well as the AMP profile. heres a pic of mine with it installed. i would highly recommend it. games run a lot smoother and noticed a few frames in benchmarks believe it or not. again, nice build!

Asus HD 7970 Matrix Platinum GPU in Crossfire - Top card hitting 90 degrees

Hi guys, here's my spec

Asus M5A99FX Pro 2.0 Motherboard
AMD FX 8350 CPU
Antec Kuhler 920 CPU Cooler
16 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz RAM
2 x Asus HD 7970 Matrix Platinum GPU
OCZ ZX 1000W PSU
2x OCZ 120GB Agility 3 SSD (OS and Games)
1x Maxtor 1TB HDD (Main File Storage)
3x Seagate 3TB HDD Media Storage)
Antec Lanboy Air Case
27 Asus VE276Q LCD Monitor

When I play BF3 or use furmark, my top card goes well into the 90's, lower will stay around 68, I've switched the cards around, so I know its not the actual card. It must be the setup, there isn't much space between the two cards, so I am guessing that's the reason. I do have side panel fans by the cards and have experimented them both as intake and exhaust, no difference. Ambient room temp it around 22degrees.

I spent around £540 getting them 6 months ago and have someone who wants to buy them both for £500, I have been up front and told him the issues I have had, but he is happy to buy them. I was looking at getting an ASUS 290X Direct II OC edition to replace them.

Do you guys think that I should, or should I investigate more into sorting out the heating issues.

Please advise, thanks

the heat issue look like its just the top card is puling heat right off the back of the bottom cards GPU chip, cause most GPU fans are downward firing meaning its pulling the heat right from bottom card and firing it right onto the GPU chip of the top card, plus heat rises so any ambient heat is moving upward as well

i would say you could try altho you have what seemd to be minimal space, but if you have a spare fan you can try situating it by the rear end of the cards, near the power plugs and have it blowing air between the cards toward the back of the case

then experiment with the side panel fan as intake or exhaust

Thanks for replying.

I've decided to keep the cards and wait until I get a new case and mobo.

I have played around with all the fans and I will try your suggestion, sure I can rig an extra fan somewhere in front of the GPU's. But for now I'm Just going to run one card. I haven't got anything that needs just one of these at the moment, let alone two!
