Hello everyone,
First post on the ROG forums. Was thinking of asking some inputs on the components to be used for the build, but there were plenty of suggestions and I just took in what I could...
Build Summary
Intel Core i5 2500K
Asus Maximums V Gene
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (1600Mhz : 9-9-9-24)
Corsair Force 3 120GB
Seasonic X-560
Graphics card, custom water cooling to be decided based on financial considerations. Case is a scratch build. I'll let the pictures do the talking for now. Will be requiring a lot of help from everyone here, have never undertaken a project like this. Wish me luck.

Got to working on a couple of mock-ups on the layout of the components in the case.
Was trying to fit all in a 1U (19" x 1.75" x 21.5") specification, but it turned out to be impossible. So planning on upping the height to about 4" - 4.25", should be good enough I think. The add-on card mounting idea inspired from the ROG Rampage Mod by Ban Nguyen.

Saw this listed on the Global Catalog & budget CrossFire flashed before my mind. Since the frame buffer is doubled, really eager to see what kind of performance improvements are really on offer.
One advice I am seeking for is if the Seasonic X-560 will scale up to supporting 2 fo these cards in CrossFire. Theoretically based on the specs it should. Plus the reviews of the PSU seem strong enough to suggest an easy, stable output of up to 600Watts.
Plan on overclocking the CPU but not by much. Will probably stick to the UEFI profiles and call it a good work-out if I can manage 4.8GHz. GPU overclocking again not by much. Based on the reviews of the the vanilla Asus HD7770-1GD5 overclocking potential is limited.

Going with crossfire and OC, you may want to have more power... I know, the i5-2500k is not so power-hungry than the LGA1366 or the LGA2011 ones, also the HD7770s are designed to be more energy efficient, but you're getting close to the upper limit of the PSU... Don't forget, there will be other components which also need power (optical drive, fans, etc.)! Drawing 600W from a 560W PSU for long time is not a good idea! For short bursts (like startup) it may provide 600W, but definitely won't work for extended time (games or heavy work).
