Rampage IV Extreme Thermal Armor

While I'm waiting for other parts in my build, I've decided to craft some thermal armor for the RIVE, similar to the Sabertooth Z77's. It started out as mostly messing around to see if it was viable.

Here's some pictures of the process:

It'll be ready for prep and paint. Now, a question for Asus people: Where can I find extra Sabertooth Z77 PCIE dust covers? I need 5 full length x16 and one x1 PCIE dust covers, for a full set for the RIVE. 😄

I like this, simply great.. Especially for a bench

Hurry to make a patent!!!

Beware.

i think by removing the pci-e lanes locking clips, would make it more easy to swap gpu's

Thanks. 😄

It's actually not a bench, but part of a full build involving an 800D. The mobo tray is pulled out at the moment to make it easier to install various parts inside the case.

WOW, I really like the idea!

My only concern are the temps... it would be very interesting to see how the temps changes with this armor...

Looks good, i too would like to see the temp's with and without it. I think that with some small Push and Pull fans in the correct locations it could work very well.

I don't think there'll be any significant temperature rise with the thermal armor, at least to affect overclockability. Where would you suggest attaching fans?

I think its good for, nuts and small screws and washers, from brackets, and ram coolers(small heatsinks (gpu), that sometimes get on the run, when the board is in a horizontal way, and can cause a short, very easy.. if dropped on the board (without noticing)

Thats the main advantage, as i see it..

as for the overclocking ability increase, i think its close to 0, but a high score for the good clean looks..

Nice job..
