My Rig

Just thought I would post pics of my Rig. I ran my own IT company in South Africa . Water cooling gear here is very expensive . We get nailed on shipping and import duties. Our Rand is that the strongest currency arround so we dont really see many monster builds from here.

Reminds me of Bane from Batman.

Push the power button to pump in all the chemicals to the beast. and make is stronger / faster

Yip , Its idling at 1200Mhz. Whats the best way to apply thermal paste to a 2011 , I used the small blob in the middle methode. Was I wrong? Is Antec Formula 7 any good? I would love to be able to keep this block.

The paste is not so important, with these blocks, they are very flat, and the contact is very good.. Paste is good for filling gaps, and rough surfaces..

But yes, use a paste..

And the nap in the middle is good..

Using a crappy one, and a ultra modern one, gives around 1-2c, at the most (idle temp)..

if everything is done correct..

But..

It can make up to 5c, depending on how u tighten the block.., and how hard..

I turned the new bolts to make it fit. Maybe thats the problem , maybe its not tight enough? "Each of springs offer 10kg of pressure, therefore optimal pressure of 40kg on CPU can be achieved." From EK' site. I really like he look of my current block.

I generally think people tighten TOO hard..

Dont tighten with Hulk power..

On my blocks, i use less stiff springs, the soft variant..

But 43c.. its like u saying, it must be a flow rate issue..

Bear in mind , I just recently went 2011. When I ran 2700K wit same block and gear in same case @ 4.6MHz I was getting those temps( Lo 30's) @ idle and 65 ish under prime.. So I recon it's one of two things, either my mounts I turned are not right or my flow plate is wrong. The new Ek block has a plate just for 2011.

Note..

Depending on what we consider the idle temp, core/cpu
