I am planning to build a wooden case and need advice on electrical grounding.
The motherboard will be >> Maximus VII Formula
Must/should the motherboard standoffs be grounded?
I am currently planning to ground every standoff to the PSU case, but this could be a mistake and I am hoping for some guidance ... and what better place than here to ask?
This will be my first full blown mod and it is exciting to plan it out exactly as I want >> No device bays, much improved air filtration and air handling aimed at keeping the case under positive pressure, and an external custom water cooling loop. Hopefully the combination of wood, large fans with speed control, and usage of some sound deadening rubber in mounting the HDD will result in a very quiet finished product.
Also, it is my understanding that the drives and fans are adequately grounded via the wiring harness. Is this correct?
Are there any other areas where grounding should be provided?
Any tips on brackets for mounting a single HHD and a single SSD to wooden panels would also be very helpful.
