OK, so I've finally got that couple of 780s to replace my clearly old and useless three TriFired 7970s GHZ! 🙂

I thought I'd use this as a chance to show pics of my build (full specs in my sig).

Much love to you all.

EDIT: I added a pic of my new work space. The PC is built to drive this setup:

25139

The PC itself:

23857

23858

23859

23860

23861

23862

23863

23864

23865

Any questions as always feel free to ask anything.

Cheers,

Dan.

Thank you. They are very awesome cards!

Last night, after taking some pics of my machine, I used all that power to play... Peggle!

To be fair I normally do things that use more of its potential but I was in a mindless clicking mood yesterday. Peggle seemed to fit that need.

Very nice setup, I like the 780's but why would 3 7970's be old and useless or was that your excuse to get new cards

Yeah, my eyebrows went up too reading "useless three TriFired 7970s GHZ"... are the two 780s much better? have you done some comparing benchmarks with both setups?

Well based on the comments I guess my intonation didn't come across as I intended. The age old readers interpretation vs actual meaning issue.

There's nothing wrong with 3 7970s, I was mocking myself really for making such an unnecessary 'upgrade'.

Performance wise it's a sideways move give or take. When I upgraded my CPU and board I went for the 7970s as they were the best option available but I wanted to wait for the 780s. I had a problem with one of the 3 AMD cards and it's being RMA'd at the moment. When I get the replacement I'll sell the 3 AMD cards on, they're about 4/5 months old so shouldn't be a problem to do and it's still the top end of the AMD lineup.

I prefer the software/driver suite and the 3D output on nvidia cards which is my main reason for changing. That and the cards themselves look a lot nicer in my opinion.

Someone will enjoy the 7970s when I sell them on, maybe even 3 people if no one wants to CrossFire them.

Just to be clear there's nothing wrong with the 7970s 🙂

LOL I still love my 7970 cards. And they are still the cards of choice for many many benchmarks even after more than a year.
