Ok.... I have a Thermaltake overseer RX-I Case...... I have been Painting it to match my motherbaord Maximus VI Formula... Notice that little blue light in the center that lights up the Thermaltake Logo..... Well I want to change it to RED to go with the theme of the board. It does not do anything but slowly pulses on/off. It is not any kind of indicator light. Just there for looks. but would look better RED!!

I bought these RED LED's to try and replace the blue light. They are a a perfect match in physical size

but every time I hit it with power it blinks real fast a goes out.. appears to blow the bulb. I am sure I am getting to many volts in this bulb but no sure what voltage bulb to get to make this change work... Any help would be great

I suggest that a multimeter to check what the case led's characteristics are, as well a what the power is like. then try and match the original led in resistance and the like. if someone else has a better idea then go with that.

Are you using a resistor inline with the LED and what voltage are you applying to it? If 5V you need a 150 ohm 1/8W resistor. If 12V use a 560 ohm 1/2W resistor. To decrease the brightness use a larger ohm value.

I was not using any resitor.... I did not even notice that there was a resistor on that wire... Going to try it now

Well..... I feel like a dumb ass.... I was trying to hook the light up without the resistor... Just used the one that was hooked up to the original blue light..... Thank you PRAZ

You're welcome. Using that resistor should be fine. The 20mA/2.1V rating is pretty much standard.
