First off my motherboard is the Asus Z97-A so it's Z97 chip Intel board
I just put together a new gaming rig. Still have my old rig from 2008 that I had ordered from cyber power. So I finally decided to build my own with up to date components .

Right now I just want to get it up and running I do not have all of my final high end parts yet. I took some from my old rig just to get her going for now.
These are the old parts im temporarily using until I replace them
1.)Samsung harddrive 320gb
2.)1 stick 4Gb DDR3 1333

So those are my only old parts im using for now. There's one more component I'll be using temporarily that I just bought and that's the Intel 4th gen LGA1150 3.0ghz 3220 I believe
Anyway point is this cpu will work for now reason behind doing this is to save up and wait for intel to release broadwell 5th gen i7's once those are out I plan to buy the appropriate one and replace my 4th gen Pentium . I went with this idea because I've heard from multiple sources that broadwell will support LGA 1150.

Here's my completed list on what I will have once I have bought everything :

Motherboard: Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 $169.99 ($125 paid)

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2ghz haswell dualcore (waiting on 5th gen broadwell i7 cpu) $59.99

CPU heatsync/cooler : Cooler Master V8 GTS - High Performance CPU Cooler with Horizontal Vapor Chamber and 8 Heatpipes $89.99

Memory : G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-16GXM
$139.99 (haven't bought yet)

Storage :
1.) Plextor M6e 128GB M.2-2280 SSD $115.99 (haven't bought)

2.) Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM $53.97 (haven't bought)

Video Card : NVIDIA - GeForce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express Graphics Card (UPGRADING to GTX 680) $220 received as gift free

Case : NZXT Guardian 921 RB ATX Mid Tower $57.99

Power Supply: EVGA 850W ATX12V / EPS12V B2 series $79.99

Optical Drive x 2 :
ASUS 24X DVD Burner - Bulk 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 24X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS - OEM
$19.99 b/f tax / shipping each
(Only have 1 so far)

Operating System Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro - 64-bit (OEM) (64-bit) $129.88 ($40.00 paid college student price)

Sound Card : ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card $97.99 (haven't bought)

Card Reader : Atech Flash Technology PRO-77U Flash Reader USB 3.0 5.25" Hub & Card Reader $59.99
(Haven't bought)

So basically I own the primary components to run a rig . The extras I jvent gotten yet but will soon .
I bought the Pentium today and will install it soon.

I also have some questions
Here's the short summary and point to my thread :

1.) how does my rig look? Once I have all parts 1-10
2.) how is my rig with what I have so far ? 1-10

3.) I have the Nvidia GeForce GTX760 ddr5 2GB installed . My PSU as listed above comes with cables im not used to on the plug-In side. I like the new style tho. I'm used to my old XION 580watt and it just came with cables pre attached , can't remove them it just is what it is. For my old 9800gt I had to connect 1 six pin adapter to the card. And the two male parts coming off the 6 pin into available female parts from the PSU. Well this new EVGA PSU Has much better options and lay out. I have multiple cables , VGA , CPU , PERP and they just plug in to the PSU so I can plug up more components I love it. However on the VGA cables they are 6 pin + 2 so 8pin if I added the spare 2 this branched off to the side . My gtx 760 has two 6 pin slots . Am I ok plugging the 6 pins into the card and having the +2 cable hanging off of the side without it connected to anything ? I didn't describe this too well and im posting on my phone so I can't post pics .

It's two 6 pin slots / I have two VGA 6pin + 2 spare hooked into PSU that I have hooked up to the card. The +2 spares aren't connected to anything is this ok? Will tht damage anything ?

Final question: 4.)
My old rig had the i7 920 2.66 co 1st gen. How much of an improvement will I see with my current 4th gen Pentium G 3.0ghz ? It's LGA1150 compared to the old i7 1336 socket so I would assume the Pentium will be a big improvement even tho i7 is higher tier but since its older first gen I figured the lower tier 4th gen would be better simply because it's newer.

Give me your thoughts , inputs , insults , flames , compliments , answers , etc.

I'm just looking for any type of response and advice / opinions.

Ps sorry for the ridiculous long post.
