Cooling Advice Needed for Maximus V Gene Board

Hi,

I have had my Maximus V Gene for over a year now running IVB 4.6GHz water cooled using Corsair H80. Like countless others my H80 also suffers from the dreaded grinding noise. Last night I could take no more of the noise, ripped out the whole assembly and replaced it with the 3770k stock cooler. To keep things cool I have to reduce to 4.0GHz@1.2v.

I' want to switch to a better air cooled solution and have narrowed choices to three coolers:

Zalman CNPS9500A, CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO and Phanteks PH-TC12DX

I'm open to any suggestions if there's something better that will fit this board nicely. I have four sticks of Corsair Vengeance (read problem with some of the above coolers touching the memory sticks). My ambient temp (air conditioned) is 27 deg C / 47% RH.

Chassis is a Silverstone FT-03

custom water or is that too risky?
or for aircooling, the noctuas are one of the few best in the line compare to the closed loop coolers.

I knew I missed something — Noctuas! I have no plans to go beyond 4.6GHz and prefer a straightforward yet efficient air cooling product to last a while. Question is which model should I get that fits my board.

noctuas will not fit on that i think becouse of ram height.
and the ND14 will be close / touching the GPU with the fan clip.

The Maximus V Gene is listed as compatible with "Possible compatibility issues with video cards that have large protruding components at the back."

Interesting. I can always shift the GeForce GTX660 to the next PCIe slot to create more room.

always use the recommended pcie slot ( that means first pcie slot )

OK. Thanks. Didn't know there's a slot preference.

I like the Megahalems Prolimatech cooler.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

The Megahalems Prolimatech cooler looks like it would clear the Corsair Vengeance even when fitted with a fan. At this time I'll settle with any of the popular cooler options as long someone can tell me which ones work with four tall sticks of ram installed.
