Sonic Studio NOPKEY error.

Just upgraded to z790 Dark Hero LGA 1700. Windows 11. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Realtek drivers from both ASUS support download and Armory Crate. Sonic Studio says this every single time. So does Realtek's software. I have sound, so the drivers did not obviously install incorrectly.

On my last ASUS mobo I had zero issues. You'd expect a 600 buck board not to have an issue like this with something so simple.

No idea what to do, any suggestions, other than uninstalling and reinstalling which I have done already a dozen times are welcome.

Same here on a ROG STRIX Z790-E GAMING WIFI. Audio works fine on my USB headset and sound bar, but neither Sonic Studio nor Realtek Audio Console want to start. Tried a bunch of tutorials and various drivers, none of it worked.

Exact same issue.  NOPKEY error when running Sonic Studio III.  Realtek Audio Console works fine.  Device manager shows no issues.  I've reinstalled drivers multiple times.  790-E Gaming WIFI II board.

Hi,

You have an ASUS ROG SS|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC408x codec, so :

You need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS-DTS) from the first post of this thread : [DRIVERS] Realtek USB Audio (AMD 5xx/6xx/TRX40 & Intel 5xx/6xx/7xx).

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

Hi,

You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard without ALC408x codec, so :

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC408x codec, so :

You need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS-DTS) or Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS Legacy) from the first post of this thread : [DRIVERS] Realtek USB Audio (AMD 5xx/6xx/TRX40 & Intel 5xx/6xx/7xx).

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

Notes :

- If you want to use SS3 apps you have no choice but to install/use the Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS Legacy). Also know that there will be no more new Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS Legacy).

- You can use/install Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS-DTS) or Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS Legacy) from the first post of the thread but you have to follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process to switch from an drivers package type to another (for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process with the same drivers package type).

Actually, the real answer is that they have now included Sonic Studio in the latest version of Armory Crate.  I uninstalled the version of Armory Crate that I was running from a previous Asus mobo installation and downloaded and installed the most recent version from the support site for my 790-E Gaming WIFI II board and now the Sonic Studio shows up inside Armory Crate.

Hey.. I have the same issue on my rog strix g16 g614jj its brand new and im getting the nopkey error code.... What should I do??

You can always try installing the latest version of Armory Crate and see if the Sonic Studio functions got moved into the motherboard section of that app.  If you have a previous version of Armory Crate installed, be sure to completely uninstall that version before installing the current version.

Same thing going on over here with the 790-E Gaming WIFI II board.  I have sound, and I can run the Realtek Control Panel, but not Sonic Studio.  I alternate between NOPKEY and "Your audio driver is not up to date or your system is not compatible."
