(SOLVED) Updating Z87 Pro BIOS Help

Hi,

I have a Z87 PRO (V Edition) motherboard with BIOS version 1205, which is what it came with, and a 4th Gen Haswell CPU i7-4771. When I browse for the latest BIOS, which is version 2005, there's a note listed there that reads
Must apply the attached BIOS updater tool first before using the new Intel 4th Gen Core processors.
I am already using the motherboard with my 4th Gen CPU, so I am confused as to what I need to do. Do I still need to apply the attached BIOS updater tool now that I am already running my system with the 4th gen CPU, or what?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much!

If placed in your situation, I would go ahead and do the BIOS update for compatibility reasons. Since you already have your CPU working out of the box, that's great! But go ahead and do the update so you'll get all the 4th gen features. Also, if you haven't already navigate to your BIOS info and make sure it wasn't updated before you got the board.

I have successfully updated the BIOS to the latest version. Since I already had a 4th gen Intel CPU installed in the motherboard, I followed these simple instructions. http://www.asus.com/microsite/2014/MB/New_4th_gen_Intel_processor_compatibility/#updater Hopefully this helps others.

FYI, the update took less than 5 minutes.
