RGB keyboard problem / Aura core listener

Hi,
I have a GL703GM notebook, when my notebook is on battery mode (not plugged), if i don't use my notebook, the keyboard's leds turn off. When i get back to work and i use my laptop, the keyboard's leds won't turn on. To turn on again the leds, i have to open the ROG aura core app.

The keyboard works fine when the notebook is plugged in and is charging. In my opinion the reason why the keyboard won't turn on in the first case, is connected with the process Auralisten.exe. In fact if you don't use your notebook the process will be closed. You have to open rog aura core app to open again aura liste.exe.

My version of rog aura core is 2.0.4 last version of windows store i think.

Sorry for my english, i hope i explained the problem corretcly. to solve the problem maybe i have to reinstall the rog aura core and the aura service apps?

Thank you

I have the same problem and I just submitted a ticket. I'm glad I'm not alone because that means it isn't a hardware issue. For me the keyboard comes back alive when I have the aura core app running and minimized. It's sad that it has to be running but I wonder if there is a way we can make it autorun when the computer starts? I'll post if I get a response.

Thank you very much. I'm glad to know that isn't a motherboard problem, but it's only a problem with the app. Post if you solve this issue 🙂

My Asus rog GL503GE have same problem with keyboard .At first I think I have defective product but then I release that it is software issue an looking for solution but unable to find that . If any one have solution then please reply .

I'm having the same issue on my GU501GM 😕 there used to be a way to disable the backlight timeout, but even after finding the registry and editing it on mine it won't stay on. I know that if you go into regedit and find the ATK Package folder and change Turnoffkeybdlight to 0 decimal it's supposed to just stay on. I didn't have the folder and even though I found and edited the registry in a different location it didn't help. There's a guide on disabling the keyboard backlight timeout on this website. If you find it and try it out you might have better luck than me though. It's worth a shot.

Okay so interestingly enough, if I force close auralisten in task manager, my lights don't turn off. Maybe if you delete auralisten from C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\B9ECED6F.ROGAuraCore_2.1.25.0_x86__qmba6cd70vzyy it would fix this? I mean obviously make a backup of the file first but if it's not working correctly getting rid of it might work. I just can't get permission to edit this file yet so I haven't been able to try...

So I figured out the issue with the backlight not staying on. It has to do with aura core listener. Simply type "start up tasks" in the desktop search bar and click on it to open in system settings. Simply turn it off and restart your computer. It should solve the issue.

I'm testing new solution and it's really promissing.

Result: backlit will never turn off even on battery.
How-to: menu start -> right mouse button on ROG Aura Core (app from MS Store) -> More -> App Settings. Window with settings will appear -> click Autostart tasks configuration -> Turn Aura Core Listener off -> reboot PC.

Sorry if it's not exact what you will see in options but it should be similar (I tried to translate from polish Windows).

I will make fresh windows install to check it on fresh system but right now it works for me 🙂

Ahh Brilliant! This has fixed the ROG Aura Core problem on my GL503GE Gaming Laptop, at first I thought there was a issue with my Laptop, but then I saw others also reporting the same problem with this!
I have contacted Asus a few times with regards to this issue and they seem Oblivious that there is actually a problem with the RGB Lighting, as they give me a Reference Number, so surely you would of thought they would actually investigate this issue....rather then blame my Laptop, when clearly is a Software issue!

A Big Thank You for this Fix 🙂

Sometimes my keyboard RGB on GL504 will also turn off automatically. And I found the ROG AURA CORE can't be opened neither in the ROG Gaming center nor from the exe. document. These problem occured more frequently when the keyboard RGB was set to rainbow or music mode.
