Question regarding ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080Ti Fan Curve adjustment to below 36%

Hello,

I am wondering if there is a way to adjust the fan curve to below 36% for the GTX 1080 Ti in ASUS Tweak II?
My curve won't go below 36 % when I use the "user define setting", see attachment "fan curve".

Even if I try to make the fan stay off until the temp reaches lets say 30 degrees, I can't go below 36%, meaning the fans will switch back and forth between on and off all the time when I reach 30 degrees (switch on when I reach the 30's and then switch off when the GPU start to cool down and so forth), see attachment "fan curve 2"-

Here is my new PC configuration :

Motherboard : MSI X299 SLI Plus
Processor : i7-7280X (not overclocked yet)
GPU : ROG STRIX GTX 1080 Ti - driver version 390.77 (not overclocked yet)
RAM : Corsair LED 64 GB (4 x 16GB) (not overclocked yet)
Cooling : Corsair H115i
Software for tuning : Tweak II V1.6.0.5

Has anyone been having the same issue or is it just the way the GPU fan works?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gulli,

sounds like this is a limitation of GPU Tweak II.
I own the same card and i have set my personal fancurve to start the cooling at 60 degrees. below that temperature, my fans stay switched of.
As soon as the card hits 60 degrees (wich it only does wenn gaming), the fans kick in at 5%, 10%, 15% and so on. There is no minimum of 36%.
I use MSI Afterburner to control the OC and fancurve, not GPU tweak, so i'm guessing your problem is software related.

Thanks for your feedback!
I did actually try to install MSI Afterburner earlier but everything was grayed out and it didn’t look like the software was active. Do you think it may be an incompatibility issue as I still had Tweak II installed or does taking MSI Afterburner into use require changing parameters in Tweak II to allow the software to work?*
