Hello, guys.

I recently built my first build. Here are the specs:
Asus maximus vi formula
Asus R9 290
4770k
Samsung 840 pro ssd
WD black 1tb
Corsair vengeange low profile 1600mhz.

And here's the problem. My pc wont shut down properly. But the problem is that IF I turn on my pc for less then hour or smth it shuts down normaly. Without any hang on "shutdown" screen. But if I tend to leave it more then for hour it hangs on the "shutdown" screen and I can't do nothing, but press reset button.

I have read on forums here and there. Tried everything. Reinstall windows, updated bio, took pc apart and put it togerther again, unintalled intel RST thing (dont remember exact name, but something to do with RAID). Nothing helps. Any advice please? Cuz this drives me crazy.

Please pull your entire system from the case and test on a non-conductive surface such as the motherboard box.

Does your system do the same thing when not in the case.

I am sorry, but I don't get the point how this going to help... Could you explain this to me? Because as I mentioned I took my system apart ant put it back together again. No change.

Ok, I'll do that when I have time. But funny thing is it chooses when to shut down, and when to play on my nerves and hang. I can't find any reason. Maybe there is some setting I could tweak in UEFI or something?

Also I didn't overclocked my system. It wouldn't be so frustrating if I did. But system is new. This annoying problem occurs.
I am fairly new to building systems. But if I wouldn't be able to find the source of problem is this a bad thing that I shutdown my PC using reset button? Cuz what I read this method shortens life span of components. Is this true?

I am trying to find out if their is a problem with shorting caused by either the case itself of some cabling in the case that is preventing your system from shutting down.

It is your call to take the advice or not. 🙂

You mentioned trying a Windows reinstall. Right after your fresh installation, what other software or Windows updates did you install?

More importantly...what PSU are you using? sounds like there is a good place to start looking.

You can use the reset button all you like, it will not harm your components. It will play havoc with your OS mind you. 🙂

The one area you can look at now without stripping your system is your PSU.

You do not mention the make or model.
