Network adapter not being detected Z97-A

Hello,

Recently upgraded my system with a Z97-A asus motherboard and new CPU. Internet was working fine and left on overnight while downloading windows 8.1. This morning i have installed windows 8.1 and cannot connect to the internet as the network adapter cannot be found. i have tried installing the latest driver sourced from another computer and from the disc that came with the motherboard. Not sure what to do, any help would be appreciated!!

Does the network adapter appear in the device manager?

If so, does it have a yellow warning symbol?

Decided just to bite the bullet and reformat the ssd again, internet seems to be connected properly now 😕
