Need to Reinstall Windows 7

Hi, All

I have an Asus G74SX-XT1.

The hard drive crashed on it.
I have no problem putting in a new one.

However, when I tried to download the Win 7 ISO, I got the message that since my computer came with windows installed by the manufacturer, the
key was not valid.

How do I get a copy of win 7 to re-install and make the computer useable again?
I really don't want to give it up.

Thanks for any help.

You will have to get a copy from the company that made the computer. My guess is there was a hidden partition on the drive that crashed that contained the Win7 installation media - swapping drives means that was lost. You should have a valid key alpha/numeric code somewhere on the case to validate your request with the manufacturer.

Thanks.
I couldn't access anything on the computer.
I haven't as yet taken out the old hard drive.
Asus is the manufacturer.

I have the code, so need the site from Asus from which I can download a copy.

Asus will sell you a recovery disc, but it's a waste of money. Check your PM's, I sent you instructions and a link for a download to reinstall windows 7.

Also I recommend you upgrade to a SSD. It will breathe new life into that old G74SX.

Any of these will work.

Hello Guys,

It's been days since I've started looking for a Windows 7 re installation options for my laptop X52J, it's still a good machine and I don't want to throw it out yet..
I got a nasty virus and would like to re-install Windows 7 on it, but can't find an iso file, but just like the originator if the thread
I got the message that since my computer came with windows installed by the manufacturer, the key was not valid.

At last I came across this forum hoping you can help me too.

ASUS support said there is no iso file to download and suggested to contact http://www.asus.com/support/CallUs# for a recovery disk.
But as I read here, you say it's useless.

Could you advise where to find a download to reinstall Windows 7 64bit Home Premium?

Thank you
