MEUpdate Tool and ME Interface Explanation Please

Would someone please explain to me the differences between and functions of the following two drivers under ASUS Download Center > Drivers & Tools:

1. MEUpdate Tool (under BIOS)

2. Management Engine Interface (under Chipset)

I have not been able to get a helpful answer from ASUS Support or find anything on the web.

This all came about when I recently upgraded my BIOS to 1205 and BIOS > MEUpdate Tool to 11.8.55.3510 because of the Meltdown/Spectre issue.

I have not yet upgraded my Chipset > Management Engine to 11.7.0.1057 or Chipset to 10.1.1.44.

I have A ROG STRIX H270F GAMING running Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

Thank you,
Jim

Basically the MEUpdate Tool (under BIOS) is the firmware, while Management Engine Interface (under Chipset) is the driver/software.
The ME is an Intel tiny system within your CPU, and requires firmware to communicate with the motherboard, while it also requires a driver/software to communicate with the OS.

Thank you Katlani.

Your explanation make sense.

Sorry for my late response. I read your reply several days ago, but had to think about it for awhile.

I am just a novice and this was my first build.

I has been, and continues to be, a learning experience.

Thanks again,

Jim
