Hi there,
I just completed my new build with one of ASUS top-tier MB "Maximus Z790 Formula" - but I couldn't find a way to update my BIOS in Windows.
I tried to find the updates in My Asus App -> Customer Service -> Live updates. Not shown. I did had a look in Asus AI Suite (EZ Update) also not available. Finally also in Armoury Create there's no easy update option available.
Do I really need to through a manual update of BIOS with a flash-drive in 2024 owning such a motherboard? 🙂
Any advice would be highly appreciated!
Cheers

Hello axxo
You can update the bios with EZ-Flash or bios flashback, you will need a usb flash drive to use either method.
Here is a quick video on how to download and rename the bios file and put it on your usb flash drive.
Link to the ASUS Support Center - ROG MAXIMUS Z790 FORMULA | Gaming motherboards|ROG - Republic of Gamers|ROG Global (asus.com)
Once you have the bios file on your usb flash drive, turn off your pc and let the psu switch on.
Insert your usb flash drive into the usb port marked bios, press and hold the bios flashback button until it starts blinking, the blinking should get faster as it goes and stop when completed. The update should take around 90 seconds to 2 minutes.

Hi @axx
You can either use EZFlash to update via the UEFI Tool Menu or use USB Flashback after renaming the cap file as instructed. There isn't any need for a Windows utility, in fact it's best to remove such overheads when doing important updates.
