Just upgraded from GPUT2 to GPUT3 v1.7.8.6 and now the process ‘DataTransfer.exe’ is always using CPU & Memory resources.
>>Program Files (x86)\ASUS\GPUTweakIII\DataTransfer.exe
What does ‘DataTransfer.exe’ do and why is it always consuming resources?
It’s quite persistent & invasive pe executable with hooks all over OS. Can kill process in taskmgr but it restarts itself.
I’ve tried full uninstall, and then clean reinstalling GPUT3, no profiles etc..
Surely this can’t be normal ?

Hi @jsouth20
GPUTweakIII supports showing more sensors using the cpuid library. To accomplish this, datatransfer.exe is key. If you do not enable the plug-in function (to get more sensor data from cpuid), this process will not be executed. A small hit to CPU runtime is expected, much like with apps such as HWINFO. The antivirus flag will be a false positive.

Completely understand; if I had ever enabled such a plug-in... But I have never enabled any plug-ins in GPUT3. DataTransfer.exe started right after install ( I have pgms to alert to such things).
Is this the plug-in your referring to?

Are you enabling external fan control?
Can you list full system specs?

I am not enabling external fan control.

Thanks, I've let the team know. Although, polling apps can always be expected to pull some CPU load. HWINFO pulls more than that on my system.

Hi @jsouth20
I've got the latest version installed here [Z790 Apex Encore / 14900KF / ASUS 4090 RTX TUF OC]
No activity before enabling the monitor plugin. Once enabled, usage is around 0.1 - 0.2%, which is a tiny overhead.
Do you have HWMonitor installed?
Nope- HWMonitor is not installed and yet DataTransfer.exe is still running?
