GPU Tweak enhance overclock problem

Hi, this is my first post on this site, please be gentle 🙂 Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I recently bought a 7850 and used GPU Tweak to get around the 1050oc limit. But since I "enhanced the OC range" I get random AMD driver crashes (stopped responding) while I'm at work. It only happens when my PC is idling. Got home today, had to hard reboot my PC (froze) and had about 5 Warning events in my system logs about my AMD drivers that stopped responding.

Any idees?

Want to run my card at 1150/5800 @ 1125mV 24/7. Using a Accelero Twin Turbo II. Max temps on load at that OC is around 55c after 10 min. So unlikely the temps or OC as it down clocks on idle.

Hai buddy, not sure if this may be your issue but make sure to disable the 2D Clocks Before you apply your overclock, alternatively you can try setting your 2D clocks and voltage higher, either way seemed to work for me.
I had the same problem when overclocking my 6950, it would run 3D games fine when overclocked but would crash when going from 3D to 2D, I discovered through trial and error that this was due to the sudden frequency/voltage changes.

Hope that helps 🙂

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I did kind of have that idea. Heard somewhere some people are having issues when jumping from 2D to 3D clocks.

Small question? I disabled 2D clocks (set 2D clock to standard 3D clock 860/4800 @ stock 1075mV). Will this effect the lifespan of my card? It will affect power, but tbh not to worried about that.

[Edit] Did a little google search, seems like a common problem. Raising the clocks slightly works as well. Pushed it up for 300/600 @ 825mV to 500/2400 @ 900mV. Ill get back with the results later on next week.

If you're worried about the life span of the card with increased 2D clock settings just do what I do.
Using GPU Tweak I leave profile 1 at card defaults, this is the profile I use when not gaming.
I then save my 2D + 3D overclock settings to profile 2 for gaming and then all it takes is a simple click on either profile button to switch modes. You then get the best of both worlds, power saving and low heat when not gaming and GPU power when you need it.
