Game First III Problems on Maximus VII Hero

I am just posting this in the forum for anyone that seems to be having problems with their lan port. Having the Game First program running seems to kill network connectivity. This problem has happened on my first motherboard and my replacement and I have finally figured out the problem. I am waiting on Asus for an official response. Also when it is on and my network connection was working it would limit my bandwidth to whatever the settings was for the program (default 10mb/s up and down) because for some reason the speed test was not working for me. I hope this information is useful to anyone with this problem.

These problems were encountered on fresh installations of windows both times, with the lan driver working fine up until installing the rest of the software from the motherboard disk. The program would also cause my computer to lock up.

I've experienced the same problem on my new Maximus VII Hero, with ASUS GeForce GTX 770. Uninstalling Game First III, v10011, fixed problem.

Same here Maximus VII Hero, with ASUS GeForce GTX 770. Took time to connect to the internet and when I downloaded some files, they were all corrupted. Waiting on an update...
Thanks.

Same problem here, it works until you boot the OS after the installation. Uninstalling the application solves the issue.
No resolution for now it seems:(

For those having issues with their downloads : CRC errors, videos not watchable; GameFirst or/and ROG Connect Plus software was the problem on my recent setup ASUS VII Ranger.
I thought my recent ram was damaged or incompatible somehow but after having them replaced with an other brand the problem was still present.
This post helps me to figure the solution since I've experienced some lags on the internet as well.

I'm glad my CRC errors are gone, I was totally lost >.>

Getting the same issue as others after installing Game First III (v1.00.11) here with my Maximus VII Hero. The network interface becomes unusable and will not attach to my home network. Resetting or disabling and re-enabling the network interface seems to have no effect. At first the interface worked and all it took was opening the Game First app and closing it. But after doing some Windows Updates and then restarting, Game First is preventing the network interface from attaching to my network. It seems maybe Game First is blocking all traffic by default. Stopping all Game First related services and exiting the application frees the interface up and it is able to function correctly. But with Game First running, it remains unusable. So, I too am going to run without Game First III for the time being until it's fixed.

EDIT: Just to clarify a couple points. Game First seems to be preventing the network interface from even acquiring an IP via DHCP. But that's not the whole of the issue.... I tried even assigning a static IP and even with that, it would not communicate with my network. Disabling or uninstalling Game First is the only thing that will restore network connectivity. I am currently going to run without Game First III until it's fixed. But without any notification here, I'm only hoping it is getting looked at and fixed in a timely manner.

Hi, anyone achieving solve the problem? or is the problem with all the motherboards RANGER VII?

My passed me the same with windows 7 64 bit, downloading two files for example my connectivity was dying and would not return. After that install windows 8.1 and it all worked fine, but the speeds were low and yet what happened was that every 10 min about connectivity was falling for about 5 seconds and then back again. this is annoying and wanted to know if anyone fix it?

I have had the same situation, however when I first reinstalled windows 7 from a fresh format, I loaded all the Asus drivers up first. I pulled up Gamefirst and it worked perfectly fine for me. I then started doing Microsoft updates and at some point during my 2nd or 3rd updates of 100+ updates, my LAN network stopped obtaining an IP address. I was using the latest version and I had loaded my Nvidia driver for my Asus 770 gtx with the gaming experience loaded with no issues. It wasn't until I hit some windows update, and i have no idea which, did i finally lose connectivity. What was interesting about this problem is I could see my network, but I couldn't connect to my router using the 192.168.1.1 IP. The other thing that was interesting was that the network drive changed to PUBLIC from HOME and knocked me completely out of my homegroup. When I changed it back to HOME and rejoined my homegroup, I could then see my internal network, but still had no ability to connect to the internet or my router. The network was called "Unidentified Network."

I hope this helps. In the mean time I've simply uninstalled the program.

Since this is my first "personal build" of a computer, I got the 4790K Intel cpu, and rog M7H. I went about it, in installing Windows 7 Pro first and all the updates, and then the software from the cd included with the M7H. I had some issues losing my IP address at first, did the upgrades to the software on Asus download site, and then had a issue with it taking 5-10 minutes with my computer actually connecting to the internet.

EZupdate always said there was no need to update the platform, no matter what. So after reading some of the forums here, I decided to uninstall GameFirstIII and see if that might be causing a problem. Sure enough, my internet connection now loads right away.

I am a noob in all of this, and I don't understand it as to why, technically speaking. Trial and error process....and can be frustrating, as I am sure a lot of you already know. On the positive side, it is GREAT to learn.

hi all, I just recently finished my build with a i5 4690k and vii hero with 2 gtx 970 in sli, When I finished the build and booted it up, it connected to the network before everything else loaded, BUT when rog gamefirst 111 was installed, that stopped my net from working and also Wouldn't let NVidia GeForce experience load or any thing that needed internet acess, I would also have to manually connect to the modem every time in order to get the net to work as it would come up with invalid ip address, BUT after uninstalling the program, ALL of this went away and my PC started to show it true colors, So after this experience I realized why the board was on SALE!!!! but I can assure others that if they are experiencing problems with WIN7 and internet issues, and have rog installed, to uninstall it and se what happens, It helped me heaps, also thanks every1 for starting this thread,

Just built a new system with the Hero VII and I noticed my internet seemed slow. Did a speed test and I'm not getting near what I should be on download. In fact, my upload speeds were better than download. I was already suspecting Game First and will uninstall when I get home from work to see if that was the problem.
