G10AJ w/Bluray .... does play a BluRay

So I am generally very pleased with the G10AJ that I just purchased. I am flumoxed that it seem to not have come with any software support (libraries?) to use the BluRay drive that came installed from the factory. Is this for real? or does Win8.1 just make it impossible to find the right application. I mean really, is it possible that it does not come with the support to use the drive to play a BluRay video disc The packaging says there is a BD in the system as do the seller's website. ASUS could not even verify that they made a system with a GTX970 when I called to confirm the number of displayports.

The drive does seem to read the contents of the drive and identifies a BD-ROM when inserted. Their is no BluRay logo on the drive which is a bit of a surprise. There is a DVD Multirecorder Logo.

1. Is this correct or am I missing something?

2. Is there an appropriate workaround I should be considering?

Well if it doesn't have the blue Ray Logo, good chance it may not be! Regardless Windows does not have any built in BR software. If you computer does not have BR software your drive has no way to play BR Asus Support Downloads All the supplied drivers and software can be found their. Depending on the Retailer you purchased from you could have different RAM, Hard drives, optical drives and screens and software. Al the major Retailers Best Buy, Tiger Newegg purchase units to their specifications that way they can sell cheaper and save you money.

Sorry the Subject should read "Does not play Blu-Ray" ... tired frustrated and grumpy 😞

The drive does read the file system of a bluray drive but VLC complains of missing decoding library and I cannot find ASUS DVD /Cyberlink DVD software installed. When the Newegg and Amazon web sites show this model has having Blu-Ray and the box also says it is a BluRay equiped machine, am I crazy to expect that I would be able to use it to play a BluRay?

Yep I would try some BD software, I think Asus quit including it back with the G75VX. I know that pulled it from the VW download too.
